Sat April 15 at 1:00 PM, Bundobust
59 Piccadilly, Manchester M1, UK (Map & Directions)
Beer and curries, followed by beer without curries. Manchester City centre. Mid-15th April 2017.
To welcome mefi‡ celebrity iamkimiam's arrival in Manchester, and by way of apology for a somewhat delayed-yet-intended festivus 2016 meetup, and before she is shot, set on fire, and burgled as part of a wider Manc welcoming programme, I propose we meet in the all-new shinified Manchester City Centre, at popular not-as-good-as-Diwani*-but-much-closer Leeds outlet Bundobust, then become more regrettably drunk round the back arches of Piccadilly, where a range of superb breweries have set up shot^hp , and before the pound completely brexits away from us and makes even wasabi peas an unaffordable luxury available only to the metropolosexualitan elite.

I cannot guarantee Scientologist-actor-lookalikes will visit this time.

‡ or maybe me-feye, or meh-fee
* would you like to know more?
† does anyone still get the ^h joke?

(Update: I have started the process of booking a table for 10ish people at Bundobust [from 1pm] about which you may read here)

We could then move towards Port St or Picadilly Tap en route to the ABC brewery for later, with some options of Haberesha and Safad en route, or en regrettant.

I'm so in! Was just saying that I haven't seen enough of Manchester yet. And I know dates haven't been proposed yet, but I am away the weekend of 8-9 April, fwiw.

(I had no idea how aggressive my Safari content blockers were, I was a little puzzled by the missing comments here! with that resolved...)

15th April could be a winner, then - wonder whether the other known regionalista MeFis are about... cranks up tweetbot

That's my birthday weekend (and it's a four-day weekend to boot!); happy to share it with you all.

Hell yes, we'd be very keen to meet up again! Mid-April sounds great.

There's not an Easter day on the 16th, is there? Pretty Good Thursday?

It's a Gnu Pretty Good Saturday, if that's your concern, asok. Pretty good for getting drunk and not seeing a John Travoltalikey, in fact. Pretty pretty good for curry, and very pretty pretty good for a £3 best-of-Manchester falafel if things go wrong. Pretty prettypretty pretty good for Eritraen food if things go really really wrong. HOLD ME TO THIS.

Ok, I'm in. See you there!

Alphabet Brewing Company's page about their 'Tap Yard', a regular Saturday thing. Noticed Nasi Lemak were there in the photos, so it might be you might want to not eat on Friday (is that some cultic thing already?) Their food is also stupidly good.

We have a booth at Bundobust confirmed - officially accomodates 8, squeeze up a bit and I reckon we can get 10 in there - for 13:00 to 15:00, and we can always shuffle around the bar and swap in and out if needs be. I can check off another booth if we look like we're going past that number?

Overspill and early eaters can always pootle off to Port St. or another pub to get drunker in anticipation of ABC drunkness later.

Bundobust is order-and-pay-at-the-bar for food and booze, there ain't no meat, and most things are vegan too, hippies!

Thanks for getting this sorted, davemee! Sounds like a great plan, really looking forward to it.

It's in the calendar - I'm really looking forward to this too!

Thanks, davemee! I was looking at the wrong month on the calendar, hence thinking the 15th was a Wednesday!
I should have a friend coming too, I'll check.

Terrapin, there doesn't look like there's nothing I can do about that, but thanks for letting me know! We're a bit more inclusive in Manchester, I'd like to think our meetup applies to all of ,England.

Friend unlikely to come due to family commitments on Easter weekend, so I'll be representing myself.

In related news we are looking for a quiet place to meet, eat and converse in that Manchester on the 8th April. I need to be able to park the car somewhere. Bonus points if there is some art stuff involved in some way.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!

dave mee, I think it's because you don't have the full post code for Bundobust in the address field? It's M1 1RG

Can't wait for this!

With regrets, we have to cancel. It's the holiday weekend, and that means it's time for Railtrack to fuck things up even more than usual in our neck of the woods. Hope the rest of you have a fantastic time, and we'll look forward to the next one.

Sorry to have missed this, but already had Easter plans. Ironically was about 20 miles away from MCR city centre, but when this was going on I was getting some lamb to roast and probably preheating the oven near the end of the meetup. Glad to hear that a good time was had by all.
