Sun January 23 at 2:00 PM, Brooklyn Brainery
515 Court St, Brooklyn, NY, USA (Map & Directions)
You helped conceive, name, and fund us, then went and kept us from getting screwed on a lease. Now that the Brainery finally has a home of its own, it's time to party down! (and learn to make kimchi, obvs)
We'll be covering how to make kimchi in a few different incarnations: at least cabbage, radish, and cucumber, as well as spicy and non-spicy versions. If you're already some sort of crazy kimchi expert, you're welcome to just show up and boss everyone else around.
This is mostly just an excuse to hang out and fill up our brand new space with awesome people who like awesome things. It's also a great chance to see what the Brainery is all about, and have us trickily trick you into teaching classes for us.
It goes from 2-7pm, and you can feel free to drop in whenever you want. It costs $5 (JUST LIKE OUR BEST FRIEND METAFILTER) and you should probably sign up beforehand at http://brooklynbrainery.com/courses/45-kimchi to make sure we have enough ingredients on hand!
The Brainery is at 515 Court Street in Carroll Gardens - 2 blocks from the F/G at Smith-9th, and about a 5 minute walk from the Carroll Street F/G for those that have a soul-wrenching hate of waiting for trains outdoors.

It sounds interesting, and I'll see how my finances shake out.

This is happening on the same day as the meetup for Indian food in NYC-proximal NJ. I cannot choose between my love for Kimchi and my love for good Indian food in the company of mefites.

What a great idea. I heart kimchi so hard. Let me see if I can rope a friend into going with me and find a place to stay.

This was a lot of fun and very packed! I'll probably check out the kimchee follow up classes, or maybe the gingerale-making party.

Although, funny enough, she has been recently suggesting we take a cooking class and I have been replying with "I bet there's something at that Brainery thing." Damn timing!
