Sun December 11 at 2:00 PM, Brooklyn Inn
148 Hoyt St, Brooklyn, NY, USA (Map & Directions)
In the aftermath of the election, I've been looking for ways to be more active and effective in our local political scene and come up confused/disappointed. Local party organization seems closed/inactive, but I also am a TOTAL NEWBIE. This meetup will be to discuss our coping strategies and action strategies for the next four years. Brooklyn Inn, 148 Hoyt St. Subways: A/C/G to Hoyt, F to Bergen, 2/3/4/5 to Nevins (10 minute walk), many trains to Atlantic-Pacific (10 minute walk)

I hear you! Do you have a time frame in mind? Maybe throw a couple dates out there?

I would love to join! My schedule for December is a bit tight, but I'll do my best. My partner, also a MeFite, will also come if dates and times work out.

I'd like to make it there myself.

The 9th or 11th would work best for me. Thanks for working to set this up, sideofwry!

One thing that came up as possibly organizing a trip to DC to speak to representative staff directly (and then go to museums)

Also, for those of us NY, how to strongly get the message out to Schumer that being BEST BUDs with the new administration will result him losing his seat next election to literally anyone. A ferret. I don't care, no Vichys in my state thank you.

Hey, Giuliani hates ferrets so I'm sure one of my namesakes would be a great senator in our current political climate!

Let's tentatively settle on December 11th at . . . is early afternoon a good time? 1? 2?

Also, how do people feel about meeting at bars? Is that generally frowned upon?

For central locations I would suggest Brooklyn Inn (near 2, 3, 4, 5 and walking distance from Atlantic Ave/Barclays) or maybe Flatbush Farm (near B, Q, walking distance from Barclays).

and open to other locations of course!

I'm interested, but don't have calendar clarity for that date. Will report back when I have a better sense of my obligations.

I think I can speak for Mefi in saying we like bars. I agree with the suggestion of something near Atlantic (since I am quite partial to locations off the Q) but can do anything that's near a train line).

I'd love to join, too. I'm in precisely the same camp as side-of-wry.

Only moments ago, I was looking at the Democratic Clubhouse Listings Page for all the the boroughs, and trying to figure out their significance. I'm also on the mailing list for the Drinking Liberally group in Brooklyn/Manhattan (apropos ferret branca's comment about bars), but I've yet to go to an event. And I was pondering the Women's March in NY, but I'm not sure what it all adds up to, and I'd love to hear what other folks are thinking.

Anyway, I'm free the 11th.

I'm definitely interested. Anywhere near the proposed area works well for me.

OMG. I used to live on Dean St., back around 1983.

What is to be done?

Of all the dates, the 11th is best for us. We're still a "maybe," but we're a stronger maybe! Anything near a train will work. And bars definitely work. I get more interesting and intelligent the more you all drink.

On short notice, I am hosting guests up here in Beacon, so I will not be there in person.
I'd like to be kept in the loop and participate in the future, please!

I have been participating in some local efforts and plan to update y'all on existing campaigns and see if any of you are interested in joining them. Looking forward to Sunday!

I'll try to get there a little before and stake out a table. I have short brown hair and will be carrying a very bright red purse.

Soon!

Cool, see you soon.

Hope some of the rest of y'all can make it!

I can be here, but it's only me at the moment, sideofwry had to go. Come if you want or we will do a follow-up meeting sometime soon.

I'm into a follow-up meeting! I had every intention of going today, but I ended up getting unexpectedly detained.

I'm totally interested in a follow up meeting too -- couldn't make it last time because I had a performance that day.
