Houston restaurant weeks meetup

These jumped out at me: Bernadine's, Calabash, Ginger & Fork, Lucille's, Pax Americana, Roost, Springbok. (I like Caracol and Down House too, but have been to one and have plans to go to the other.)

If the turnout is small-ish, Roost would be perfect. I heard great things from a friend about Pax's HRW menu too.

I've been wanting to go to Roost for a little while! Most all the reviews that I've seen have been really appreciative. It sounds like a very homely and delicious place to go get dinner. Any of them will be fine with me, though. :) It'll be my first meet-up. Excited!!

I moved to Houston last year and have been wanting to meet some local MeFites, so count me in. I'll be coming from the NASA/Clear Lake area so I'd vote for anything not too far north.

I'm in depending on where and when. Holley's is also excellent and they offer a brunch if that's easier to arrange.

Anyone know if Roost's cancellation fee applies only if no one shows or charged per person who doesn't make it. There's always someone who can't make it due to last minute issues.

Looks like there is a consensus for Roost, and the food there sounds amazing. Date and time? Friday nights my wife and I are usually kid-free, so we would prefer that. (This week, it's Saturday night.)

Ms. Molly (and all others), I'm just a stretch down 146 from you, so maybe a second meetup at one of the Baybrook restaurants or one of the few in Galveston?

10-12 is probably the max size of a party for any dinner at Roost (he'll place us in the room upstairs). I'm hoping and have a gut feeling that as long as the majority of the group shows up on time, Roost won't penalize us with any cancellation fees.

My suggestions on dates would be either the 25th or 26th.

I can make the 26th, but have to leave for a work thing at 11. However, it looks like we're pushing the envelope on Roost?
Went to Maggiano's yesterday. It's a hell of a lot of food for $25 (3 courses + a take-home entree), but if you have a group of more than 8 they really really really want you to order off the family-style menu instead of the HRW or regular menu.

If you can make Friday the 26th, at 7 or 7:30, please acknowledge.

I'll call Roost, Calabash, Cinq, and on down the list to see who's available for 12. I'd like to do this on Sunday so we're not waiting until the really last minute to find a place for that large a group.

Okay, so it wasn't a perfect night, and it would have been nice to have been given food at some point, but I loved meeting everyone and my peach tea was delicious.
