Ronald McDonald House, July edition

Sun July 3 at 8:30 AM, Ronald McDonald House
5444 S Drexel Ave, Chicago, IL, USA (Map & Directions)
Let's make brunch for families of sick kids at Ronald McDonald House in July.
Part of the series of brunch meetups we're going to have at the Hyde Park Ronald McDonald House (5444 South Drexel Avenue, Chicago, IL). Dates are reserved for the first Sunday of every other month ( July, September, November.) until the end of 2016.

We've done this a couple times before. However, a few months back we learned brunch time is targeted at 10:00am, so plan accordingly as to when to show up, and what food you're making. I'm planning on getting there around 8:30 to help everyone out and start working on whatever concoction I'm making.

The Hyde Park house asks that we don't bring more than 12 volunteers, but I don't expect that's a problem.

The house has 98% of the utensils and tools you need for cooking, we just need people to a) volunteer to be head chef for a brunch dish or b) volunteer to be sous chef for any / all of the head chefs. A variety of dishes that can get around a variety of tastes, allergies, and dietary restrictions is preferred by us, though the house is just happy for us to show up. We're typically cooking for 25 guests + us, and they'd prefer us to err on the side of leftovers if we can. We've rarely had issues with that though.

Good things to bring for using / leaving at the house: note cards to label food with titles and allergens, a set of measuring cups and spoons (they have them, but they're always hard to find). Sharp knives.

Biscuits and berry compote of some sort is my plan, plus fruit salad!

Me and baniak will plan to come, and we will sous chef, unless something else needs to be made. (we'll also need a ride!)

If I can work out the scaling and timing, I could do breakfast tacos, but I may go with something simpler.

Kay's going to help me make spanish omelettes ahead of time. Eggs and potatoes, FYI.

If anyone can give me and baniak a ride, that would be RAD.

Is it too late to jump in with a dish? IF not, I'll change my RSVP to Yes and do a Chipotle-Peach Quinoa salad.

If it is too late, I'll still come and make the salad.

There was no chorizo at the shop. If anyone still has to do shopping and can pick me up a pack, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise, only soy-rizo in the tacos!

I'm going to get some things tonight - I can grab a pack of chorizo for you crush. Just 1?
