As part of December's First Friday festivities I'm the featured artist at MIX in Ypsilanti. Come see my work, shop their awesome women's new and used clothing and accessories, have a drink and hang with me.
The exhibition is my aerial and ground-based encaustic landscapes. Somewhat abstracted, reflecting my love of wilderness and of maps, the paintings are lushly colorful and luminous. I work with all sorts of tools including a torch, razor blades, dental tools as well as brushes. Encaustic is paint made with pigment and beeswax and is applied hot. The resulting layers of color and texture range from opaque to translucent, and yield a surface unlike any other art media.
