Thu September 3 at 7:00 PM, La Patrona
2977 North High Street, Columbus, OH, USA (Map & Directions)
ChuraChura is returning from her research trip abroad and we're meeting to hear about her tales of daring-do while off studying our monkey cousins. We're meeting at La Patrona on High Street, on September 3rd at 7pm. Please join us and find out what having malaria, and living among small non-human primates, is really like!
Come hear about ChuraChura's adventures in the rainforests of Tai National Park, Cote d’Ivoire, while studying the intelligent and mischievous Diana monkeys. All this and queso and beers!

I think that would be great - what kind of venue do you think you'd have in mind?

Last time we went to one of the Local Cantinas. Somewhere were we could hear each other would be my preference.

<3!! I am sad to be leaving, but looking forward to washing machines and running water and electricity, and internet that works on websites other than metafilter, and not having malaria!

I don't know if I can entice folks to Clintonville again (or Mexican - but better!) - but I will owe the lovely folks at La Patrona a visit. I also just saw that Aab opened up a new place in Bexley? Also, there's a Savor Growler tasting room now (also in Clintonville). If we want to go semi-thematic and there isn't a huge crowd, there's a lovely Kenyan restaurant on Cleveland Ave just off of 270 which is very yummy.

La Patrona looks like a great choice. Yep, we did get a new Aab here in Bexley and that's another great idea. I still haven't tried it yet. Is the Kenyan place Banadir? I found a bunch of African restaurants on Cleveland and it's the only one that looks like it's East African. Intercontinental is closest to 270 but it's Nigerian.

Wycliff's might be better another time - not the quickest, but very good! Otherwise, I'll defer to you guys!

Okay, let's go with La Patrona, and how about Friday Sept. 4th, at 7?

Sounds good to me! If we get to be more than 4 or 5, I'll give them a call to reserve a table.

I'm in - and depending on what people want to do, that's also right next door to Lineage Brewing, which I've been meaning to check out for my Ale Trail book. :)

Hey, the Ms. reminded me that the 4th is right before the long labor day weekend. Might the 3rd be a better, maybe more inclusive date? Maybe more people could make it if it wasn't Friday.

Either day works well for me!

Posted from Beechwold, but still definitely in Ivorian hours

Changed it to the 3rd. Same time, same place. If that's a problem, let me know.

Can't make 3rd. Have fun!

I have made alternative plans for the 4th, so now the 3rd is the only time I can come. Sorry, Jigsaw!

Urk. I have a potential conflict tomorrow, but I'll try to drop in at least!!

Thanks for organizing, Toekneesan (and for dinner!)! It was fun chatting - hope you made it home unimpeded by flash floods!
