I'm planning to be there, but the theme of the last few weeks has been "stuff going wrong", so if I don't show up, it's because I'm stranded in Auburn for some reason, or forget my ticket, or nailed my foot to the ground with rebar, or forgot to stake down my feet and got carried off by a dust devil.

Looks like I won't be making it to the meetup, after all. It turns out that Wednesday is the day that I need to drive back to Reno to pick up some campmates from the airport.

this is a great idea as always, but given that these meetups the last two years haven't really worked out, I suggest that we try something simpler. Like meet at center camp at noon one day. Not that I won't try to go to wherever we decide to have it. It's just that time and place gets a bit fuzzy on the playa and everyone has so much going on.

How about 3pm in Center camp? The easiest place there is to find. And then we can migrate to somewhere else if that seems like a good thing to do.

I had a meetup in 2007, at center camp. I said which side (3:00 side), and I carried a big sign with a picture of pancakes. Still at least one person later told me they couldn't find it.
Center camp is tough, since it's so big and there's so many people there. Plus it can be hard to find anywhere to sit down, so there's a lot of pressure to get moving, which means people have to get there on time, which hahaha.
If we don't have a friendly theme camp to hold it at, it may be the best we can do, but a friendly theme camp would be a lot better. (I'll hopefully know in a few days if I'll be camping with a theme camp or not. I will have some art things in inner playa, but none of them will have shade so that's not helpful)

You know even if we don't have a friendly camp I think we'd be better off just picking somewhere with a public chill space (e.g., Lost Penguin Lounge) and having it there. The problem with that is although the camps have been told their location, AFAICT there's not a public listing yet, so if nobody we know is camped there, we'll just have to each look it up in the WWW once we get there. (Or maybe this stuff will be disclosed in the next few weeks, or already has been and I'm dumb and can't find it)
