I'm walking in the 30th Annual Hunger Walk to benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository and Deborah's Place. Join me (or donate)!
Alright guys, here's the deal. MeFi's own torridly works for an amazing organization called Deborah's Place, which provides housing and support for homeless women.

The Hunger Walk has a system set up so that member agencies can refer people to sign up to walk, and by doing so the agency gets a little extra funding support - $12 per registrant, I believe. I'm signed up to register on behalf of Deborah's Place so that in addition to the funds I hope to raise for the food bank that will be dispersed to all the member agencies, Deborah's Place gets a little bit of extra money too.

This is an easy 5K walk and I think it would be fun if a bunch of us did it! I even created a MeFiChi team.

Here are the steps to register for the walk and join the team:
1. Register for the walk itself at this Eventbrite page. It's free! If you also want to support Deborah's Place, make sure you select Yes that you are walking on behalf of a member agency and select A00190 or A00192 Deborah's Place as the agency (this is optional).

2. Create a login for the Greater Chicago Food Depository website and join the MeFiChi team.

3. Start fundraising!

Or if you're not able to walk with us, you can also donate at that same MeFiChi team link.

I am 90% sure we're going to be out of town that weekend on fake-vacation but if so will definitely donate.

Awesome idea. Can't do this one, but I would be up for similar events in the future.
