The Figs hit Memphis!

I promised raisingsand a cocktail for her amazing Quonsmas gift, and would love to meet other Mefites in the Memphis area. Mr Fig and I will be there on Friday, January 16.
I am thinking about an after-dinner drink/snack at The Beauty Shop, at around 7:30, 8ish? We are definitely flexible on location - if any locals want to chime in with better options, I am open! Time is slightly less flexible, but not set in stone.

Oooh, I'd love to finally attend a Memphis meetup! I don't know my work schedule that night just yet--won't 'til next week--but if I can, I'd love to join in.

All right - I'm glad that location and time will be ok (hopefully things will work out for ifjuly as well!). Is this a place that needs a reservation?

I'm game. Beauty Shop usually doesn't need a reservation these days, but even if it's too crowded, there are plenty of places to gather in Cooper Young. I've got a friend who bartends at Beauty Shop, so I'll see if he's going to be there on the 16th.

If I can "ride the roo" (the newish Overton Square to Cooper Young shuttle with the bizarre Joe Camel-like mascot, haven't been on it yet) I'll be there! (I am a huge baby about drinking even 1 drink and then driving, even just the 4 miles from my house this is...I'm weird.) Looking forward to it, haven't been to the Beauty Shop in years.

You guys are the sweetest (yay Mefites, amirite?). But the 'roo shall suffice and maybe even be an adventure! I probably won't get there right at 7:45 on the dot due to trying to videoconference with a relative around 7:30 first to wish them a happy birthday (long story), but I plan to be there tonight eventually, awkward as ever. :D

Me and Mr Fig arrived in Memphis just in time to see the Peabody ducks, are currently at Central BBQ, and will shortly be headed to our hotel to relax and refresh. See y'all in a bit!

Guys, I had a really lovely time. I have been hermit-hibernating it up like a regular brown bear, but my first local meet-up ever and it was great, whee. :D Y'all are some lovely, welcoming peeps, even to a latecomer snarly-haired slob like me. Wishing your daughter the best of luck with her interview raisingsand, and lively but safe travels to the delightful Figs, and for you to give me your snail address RoE so I can shoot you a thank you through post, or to meet up again for lunch/dinner before winter starts thawing out (that goes for you too, raisingsand!). It was a pleasure talking to you all.
