Board Game Meetup!

As discussed at last night's meetup, there is a lot of interest for a board game meetup! Let's meet at Roll Play Cafe at Yonge and Edwards at 2 PM on Sunday, Aug 10th. Bring your best games...or at least your game face!
Very keen. I missed last night's meetup due to travel, so I will come to this one twice.

I'm pretty sure in the past 5 days I've played a dozen hours of board games. Sooooo down.
I vote against Lagers only due to grouse's concerns - packed and they seem to have trouble accommodating larger groups (tables of 4 are standard). Castle is good, never been to Roll Play.
I'ma bring my copy of Machine of Death! Because I doubt they have it and I want to play some more.

I have yet to manage to get anyone to play my copy of Machine of Death with me, so I'd be down for that.

Heh, suetanvil and my copy of Machine of Death still hasn't been unwrapped yet so I'd love to see it in action. I'm trying to nail down some extremely nebulous plans in August but I'm sure one of us would be there.

They'll have all the usual fare (TTR, Carcassone, Catan, Pandemic, etc) but if there are games that you really want to play and that are more obscure (like Machine of Death) then bring those along!

Looks like we are brunching at Hot House starting about noonish (I have to drive in from out of town & find a place to park for the day) and then heading from there to the meetup! If you want to join us (please do!) I guess the best way to meet there is to hit me up on MeMail for my cell # so we can text to find each other at the restaurant =)

For anyone who hasn't been to Roll Play before or hasn't been there in a while, they charge a $5 / person fee to play there with no time limit to how long you can stay. (It used to be a $10 food order minimum - this does seem a bit more accessible.)
The reservation is confirmed for 12 for 2 PM under my name (Jenny), I figure we can be flexible with that number if people join in or drop out at the last minute. See you all tomorrow!

It was a great time! I was a little sad the two groups didn't really shift and we didn't all get to talk...but game timing is what it is. We'll definitely do it again. And next I will pack MoD ahead of time so I can't forget it :(
Also, lessons learned. Do not trust grouse or Phire, they are lying liars who will lie to you.
But only them. Definitely not anyone else.

Let me assure you, no one was more surprised by that than the winner. I was trailing jacquilynne by about twenty points for most of the game, but a slow-and-steady approach to picking up tickets (I figured I was fighting for third) paid off.

I live close to Snakes and Lagers (the College location) and I really want to try it. It usually seems packed when I walk by and they don't do reservations. Unless attendance is much smaller than I'm guessing, the other options are probably better.
