MeFites at Convergence 2014

Sat July 5 at 12:00 PM, Consuite, CONvergence @ DoubleTree Hotel
7800 Normandale Boulevard, Minneapolis, MN, USA (Map & Directions)
CONvergence is held at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Bloomington, MN, on the first weekend in July. This year, the theme is Urban Fantasy, and a running theme is Gargoyles the animated series. For those who haven't been before, it's fun but crowded, and $120 at the door. I used to run into a couple of mefites there, but it's been years since that happened.

Oh yeah! I totally forgot to make this event. Anyway, I'll be there the whole time. All y'all should come to the Pun-el where you can bask in my brilliance.

I'll be around with my hubs. We're likely going to be hanging out at the House of Toast parties. Not sure what else we'll be doing. We will also have a car, so if we want to go eat locally, we can transport three people.

cthuljew - I'll try and look you up at the Pun-el; I think I already penciled that in.
I'm working on a 'batsignal', but it's still a work in progress. More on that in a day or two. Was considering bringing Pop Tarts to the House of Toast, and getting toppings. While it would be nice to get them toasted, I'm pretty sure that they would be a nasty fire hazard if the new toaster jammed.

OK, I have a scythe, with a 6 foot, 6 inch long handle, and a blade roughly 2 feet long. Still needs to be peace bonded / approved by Convergence. But I'll call try to have it around, along with appropriate costume, for when we meet up.
The Pun-el is a good time & place to meet - 11:30 PM - 12:30 AM on Friday night @ Plaza 2. Would that work for everyone? We could maybe meet up at 11 PM friday in the plaza area between the art show and the Plaza rooms, and then go check out the panel or do some late party crawling.
Thoughts?

I'm staying across town and my boyfriend is working that morning, so I might not be up for an hour long panel and then driving the two of us home. I could probably drop by and say hi at 11, though. Possibly with a sleepy boyfriend in tow.

Let's meet up on Saturday at noon somewhere. That's after the 11AM panels end, before the 12:30 ones begin. I'd recommend meeting at CONsuite, because... CONsuite.

So, while volunteering in Ops yesterday, I ran into cthuljew who showed me his MeFi sign; I think we're good there. But now that I see how the con is set up, which part of the con suite will we be hanging out in? Drinks? Rice? Other?

However space lounge doors open at 9 pm. I suggest that we meet at the doors anyway, since they shouldn't be that crowded.

Overall, a great con. Some sadness though - one of the board members, Tish Cassidy, passed away early Sunday morning. I knew her only slightly, but she was kind and friendly and will be missed.
