Wed October 23 at 8:00 PM, St Augustine/Rio
2360 Commercial Drive, Vancouver, BC V5N 1N3, Canada (Map & Directions)
Hi all,
I was wondering if people would be up for going to Improv Against Humanity at the Rio this month.
Here's a description
My plan is to meet at St Augustine's on Commercial at 5:30ish, spend some quality time together, partake in some liquid courage for socially anxious people like yours truly, and head down to the Rio for an evening of gentle misanthropy at 8ish.
I've never been, and by all accounts it sounds like a jolly, rip-roaring time. Also, the last meetup I was at was two years ago, so I'm instigating shenanigans.
I'm, of course, up for a different pre/post watering hole that locals* would recommend.
*I use that word loosely, of course.

I should be free, and that looks very, very easy to get to on transit.

I.. don't think I've ever gone to a Metafilter meetup, but my resolution in 2013 was to meet more people, so what the heck.
I won't be able to make it for drinks until at least 6pm, but otherwise I'm game.

Excellent! I'm assuming people are OK with St. Augustine as a meeting point. Here's a link to tickets($6)
Also, by what witchcraft do I make this event appear in the sidebar so as to get better visibility etc?

I have one extra ticket should someone need it, by the way.

I hope to be there around 5:30-ish. I'll be the dude with the plaid scarf and Buddy Holly glasses.

Oh, geeze, I'm glad you posted that, I totally misread it and was going to be showing up at St Augustine's at 8! I'll probably be a bit over an hour, as I haven't left work yet. I'm wearing a black McMaster hoodie or 'geek' t-shirt, depending on how warm it is.

No worries. I've grabbed us a table and may have begun drinking already.

So, either because I was a little drunk or because I expected not too much from this performance, I had a brilliant time tonight. I'm told I should've worn a Metafilter shirt or had a "I'm with Matt" sign to guide people to our table.
seawallrunner: I am definitely going to go to the next one, it's their first anniversary performance so I wouldn't rule out anything special.
Also, it was excellent talking to Canageek about his research and his Dad's journey into brewing beers. A fun evening all around.

Yep, was fun. We should try again, and see if we can get more people. Perhaps we should do a CAH or another game night at an accommodating bar (Storm crow?)
