Calling any and all Perth/WA mefites! We are currently the only mainland state in Australia to never have had an IRL meetup. This should not continue.
If you're going to be in Perth in the next few weeks and would like to meet, please drop a line in this thread or memail me. I would propose meeting at a bar in the city around 5pm on say a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday but am open to suggestions.
I'm relatively new to metafilter and have never been to a meetup before, let alone organised one, so please go easy on me! I'm guessing that there are fewer than 10 mefites in WA, and I have no idea if any of you are interested in meeting IRL, but this big white space is slightly annoying me so, here we go.
Update: Woohoo! Looks like at least two of us can do the 25th, so I'm setting that as the date, unless there's objections. Saying 5:30pm but I guess this can be flexible.

Woohoo - Harriet Vane and I have joined up a few times for a small Perth MeFi flagwave, but I've noticed that the Perth contingent has grown a lot in the last year or two.
I'm going to suggest the Wee Bar in Mount Hawthorn or 399 on William St, or Frisk on Aberdeen Street. Alternatively, I live inner city and am happy to host.

I think there are more than 10 mefites in WA; I've seen people reading AskMe on the bus, at least! I chatted briefly with Ahab a year ago about getting a Perth meetup going, so this is a good thing.

So to turn this into reality, any preferences for time, date and place?
Place: I'm happy with any of Honey-Barbara's suggestions - if you leave it to me I'd pick Frisk because I like gin :)
Time: I can make it at any time, let me know what works. I was thinking immediately after work like 5:30 or 6, depending on what hours and where you all work.
Date: I don't think I can do the 26th or 27th, so how do people feel about Wednesday the 25th?
(the 18th, 19th or 20th also work for me at this stage, but if you want one of these dates please reply quickly so we can lock it in! Alternatively, October is up for grabs, I just have a mental block against planning things beyond the end of the month...)
I wonder if Barnacles and I catch the same bus - I regularly read AskMe on the bus!

Hate to be uncertain (depends on whether anything critical comes up in the meantime) but Frisk on the 25th currently sounds good for me. Close to both work and home. Thanks for organising!
