What time is it? TERROR TIME!!

Eastern State Penitentiary's Terror Behind The Walls is right around the corner. Let's plan a trip to the big house.
It’s almost time for the 2013 Terror Behind The Walls season! For those of you that are unfamiliar, Terror Behind The Walls is a haunted house set up within Eastern State Penitentiary as a fundraiser for the prison. Walk through several zones as dozens of trained actors do their best (and worst!) to scare you out of your skin. There are a ton of improvements this year that I’m excited to experience firsthand and I want to bring along as many people as possible. If I have to get terrified, so do you!

- The season runs from September 20th – November 2nd. The shows run more frequently the closer to Halloween it gets.
- I’ll be going multiple times during the season so if you want to go and can’t make whatever date the group decides on, let me know and I’ll probably go with you just for the hell of it. I’m definitely going on November 2nd as that’s the “remix” night.
- Shows during the week are (generally) less crowded than the weekends.
- I’d prefer to go during the last or second-to-last timeslot but this is not a requirement. Most of the actors and managers go to a bar across the street after they’re done and everyone is invited to hang out. They’re insane, great people.

Ticket pricing info can be found here. The price depends on what date you go and increases as the season goes on. The first two days of the season are $18. The next two Fridays are $25 and the next two Saturdays are $35. After that: Tuesday – Thursday is $25, Friday and Sunday are $35 and Saturday is $45. Remember that this is for a good cause and half your ticket cost is tax deductable.

They do waive the service fees for groups of 20 or more so if we manage to get that many people, we can save roughly $5 per ticket. I’ll “probably” be able to get some kind of discount for us regardless of how many people go.

The only dates that I can’t make it are October 18th, 19th, 20th, and 31st (Halloween night is either insane or totally dead. I’m betting it’s going to be insane this year because it’s a Thursday night).I would also prefer to not go on October 15th but I could make that date work. I’m leaning towards one of the opening nights since it’s on a weekend, cheaper, and usually not as crowded.

The prison is located between 20th – 22nd and Fairmount. It’s not the easiest place to get by public transit. The 15 trolley has a stop about a half mile away and there are a handful of bus stops within walking distance. For those that drive, the prison runs a “ghost bus” service that lets you park around the Zoo and take a bus to and from the prison. There’s a parking lot a block away and street parking if you’re feeling brave. There are also a million taxis.

Disclaimer: Terror is awesome and I love everyone that works so hard to put it on every year but it is not a great way to explore the prison itself. Do yourself a favor and take the daytime tour so you can experience the history of ESP. MeMail me if you’re interested in a tour and I can probably get you some tickets.

I've toured ESP before but never been to Terror, so I'm in.

G and I are in! One of the opening nights works. The only dates that are off the table for us are Oct. 6-9.

A Sunday night is best for Flash and I. With his new job he'll be working Friday and Saturday nights.

My schedule's a lot more flexible and if the majority prefers one of the opening nights, I should be able to make it as long as we go after 9:30.

I went to kindergarten around the corner from there many's the year ago, and have harassed the cats at the second-hand bookstore across the street, but have never actually been to ESP. Count me in! Pretty much any night should work.

ESP has been on my to-do list for a while, and I'll be living in the city then, almost definitely. I look forward to meeting some of you!

Seems like opening weekend will work for most people. How about we plan on Saturday, September 21st? I'd like to go during the 10:30pm timeslot unless that's too late for everyone.

Confirmed the date/time. I should know more information about any potential discounts by next week and I'll make another post about that.

Update: No info yet on any discounts but I hope to hear something by next Wednesday or Thursday. Feel free to buy your tickets whenever if you don't want to wait that long. I don't think it'll sell out but stranger things have happened.

They still haven't handed out passes/discounts so I went ahead and bought my ticket. Many apologies that I wasn't able to get a deal but I should be able to work something out later in the season if people want to go again.

So yes! Let me know via MeMail or in this thread if you're going and we'll figure out a place to meet on Saturday. Two other haunt spouses are coming thru with us and I've been assured that we're literally going to have our faces murdered off our skulls.
