Get together at GenCon?

I'll be in Indianapolis for GenCon next week. It seems to me that there are bound to be other MeFites there, both locals and other attendees. Maybe we could try to meet up Wednesday night or Sunday morning when things are quiet, or find some time during the convention itself?

I might be able to do this. It depends on my schedule.

I think the last meetup was a couple of years ago and I couldn't make it, so I would like to this time if I can.

I'll be there all four days. I'm running D&D events Thursday and Friday morning 8 to noon and a D&D game for my daughters and their friends some time Sunday, but that aside my schedule is still fairly open.

Should be able to attend. Only have a badge for Saturday, but I'm a local so should be able to stop by regardless.

I'm a local and would love to attend a meetup. I'm busy Wednesday, but Sunday morning would work. I won't be attending GenCon, but I could meet at other times too.

Also, if you're a fan of Patrick Rothfuss (author of The Wise Man's Fear and The Name of the Wind - two majestic fantasy books) he'll be at the Indy library for reading, signing and Q&A on Thursday 8/15 @ 7pm as well as having a booth at GenCon. His site has the details.

I can probably make it, given enough lead time. Perhaps we could meet at the downtown library, and adjourn to a local eatery?

I'm a maybe. It's going to depend on when. That Saturday is horrible for me because I'm doing Warrior Dash.

I'm local and would be interested, but not attending GenCon. Lunch would be best.

Likewise, local but not attending GenCon. May be able to come, depending on the time; Wednesday evening is definitely out for me.

Are we leaning towards Sunday morning then?

I'm likely to be driving out noonish, so it would need to be a brunch kind of thing.

Sunday morning is difficult as I am running a D&D game for my daughters and guests. We'll be at the con most of the day.

Wednesday evening is possible after the judges' meeting, later in the evening.

I'll be downtown most of the time and would love to meet up if my schedule allows. Even for those who don't get admission to the con, we could sit down at a table in the public area and perhaps play a board game or something.

How about 1 PM on Sunday, meeting up at the Central library near the donor's bench in the Atrium?

I'll have a car and can provide ride3s to at least 2 or3 folks...

I am assuming we are talking about tomorrow...

Actually a week from tomorrow.

Ahh, OK. No problems then. Do we have any kind of consensus?

Sundays, in general, are bad for me, let alone for traveling to downtown Indy. I'm afraid I'll have to miss this one.

How about 11ish? To make it a Sunday Brunch.

I do expect to leave by noon Sunday because of my co-travelers. On the other hand, if people wanted to do Sunday afternoon without me, I'd suggest 2pm at the Ram, which will be quiet around that time, and is a good hangout space.

the Ram?

The Ram is a restaurant and brewery near the convention center that gets all game-themed during GenCon.

Any time Sunday is fine with me...I'm happy to meet in the morning if that makes it possible for Karmakaze to attend. Can we set a time and place?

How about 11 AM at the Ram, them?

The wife (fellow mefite) and I could make 11am. Later in the afternoon would be a bit difficult due to work commitments.
posted by RyanAdams at 11:55 AM on August 15, 2013

I may only be able to stay for a bit, but I can make 11am, which is right when the place opens.

I'm at the Ram, table just inside the door. Look for the camera on the table.
posted by pjern at 7:45 AM on August 18, 2013

Technically they only open at 11. I just slipped in to get the air conditioning before they re-locked the doors.

Leotrotsky and wife running about 25 minutes late, please save seats!

It was great meeting you all. I'm in my hotel in Pennsylvania for the halfway overnight stop.

I see on pjern's photo caption that the Devils Rancher/DevilsAdvocate confusion has reached a new height. :)
