Pinball Road Trip

Ok, crazy schedules season has made the Pinball Parlour not the best option for us this time around. But there will still be pinball!
PinCrossing is a new pinball place located in the Railroad St. Bar and Grill in Linfield, PA. They've got about 10 machines in place (0.50 & 0.75 plays), plus a handful of video games. The food is a nice variety of pub fare, and the tap list is great.

More details about the site at: http://www.railroadstreetbar.com and http://pincrossing.com

The time is flexible but will be set soon!

If I'm able to go, I'll drive, and can pick up 2-3 people in west philly/center city.

If we go before August 28th, I can pretty much only do Tuesday or Thursdays. After that, I can only do Mon, Fri, Sat. Do you know how busy they get on Fri/Sat nights? If we opt for a weekend, it might be worth looking into doing it as a private party during a weekend afternoon.

And thanks for throwing this up!!

I am of course interested but my schedule is too nutty to try to plan around. Everyone should pick a date that works for most and hopefully it works for me as well.

Oooh, if I'm not kiddo-wrangling on the actual-factual date, I am SO in, and can transport up to three other MeFites in my luxurious Pontiac Vibe.

This is a crazy time of year for us as my fiancee is doing a play until late August and then the haunted house business ramps up in mid-September. We also have random wedding commitments sprinkled here and there. I think it might be best to come up with a few date options so people can see what works best.

I think a weekday would be a trick and a half just because of travel time. I agree that a Saturday afternoon would be great - I'll give them a call to see what options are available.

Meanwhile, how does either Sept 14th or 21st look? (Saturdays)

September 14th is the only Saturday that would work for us between now and the start of November. The following weekend is the start of the Terror Behind The Walls season (keep your eyes peeled for a TBtW meetup...).

That being said, I'm not 100% sure we'll be able to go anyway. If 9/14 works for everyone else, great! If not, please feel free to select another date.

As of right now, 9/14 looks good for me. I'm also not going to be able to commit 100% to any given weekend until closer to the date but I'd really like to do this!

Unless something school-related comes up (which I won't know till classes start in a few weeks), any Saturday is good for me.

Oh man, I would love to go but pretty sure the toddler makes it difficult unless I can convince my wife to stay home with the kid...

This sounds awesome BUT we have dastardly wedding-related things on the 14th-- if the first trip goes well, maybe a repeat later on? Thanks for pulling this together!

A repeat trip is always an option. Sorry we hit the wedding stuff, I was hoping to avoid it.

Ok, I gave them a call and currently they have no reservations for the 14th. So if that is our date we have a few options:

Open to public 7p - 10p $15/ea
Private party (min 10 people) 2 hour session, $15/ea
There "most popular" party times are 10a-noon and 1p-3p

The main advantage of the private party is that we get the whole place to ourselves. We can also bring in food and drink (maybe beer, forgot to ask) and set up at the tables. Down sides are less time for the same amount of money.

Thoughts?

It would be nice to have the place to ourselves but I'm not sure how mobbed it gets so it may be a moot point. Two hours is less overall pinball time but that might be fine. I'm indifferent about bringing food/drink there. It's a nice perk but I'd rather spend that time playing games (unless we can bring in beer).

We could also go out before/after pinball but I don't know that area at all so I'm not sure what "going out" would entail exactly.

Again, I won't be able to commit to any date at this point because this time of year is insane.

The pinball place itself is out in the middle of nowhere, but Lansdale is on the way back and has a brew pub and a very good beer bar that we could hit.

I think getting a commitment from 10 people is our biggest issue for a private time.

Not trying to throw a wrench in the works at all, but if we wanted a place that would allow us to be a bit more flexible with hours and have drinks on site, this place is opening in a few weeks:

PinCrossing

Won't be as many pins, but what they have is the good stuff.

Ooh nice. I've had that bar on my list of places to check out. Adding pinball has just bumped it up to the top of the list. Looks like they will be open this weekend (though perhaps not completely set up), so I may take a visit.

I visited PinCrossing yesterday for lunch. They've got a nice set up. The pinball machines are in a room off to one side, but still adjacent to the bar. The machines have cup holders so you have a place to put your beer while playing.

They have 9 or 10 games. The ones I remember are: Kiss, Gorgar, Pin-bot, Indiana Jones, White Water, Theatre of Magic, Monster Bash, Lord of the Rings. They also have a few classic video games (Pac Man, Donkey Kong, etc). The pinball machines are .50 or .75 per play. I played a few rounds of Pin-Bot and Theatre of Magic and both machines were in great shape.

The menu isn't fancy, but the beer list is impressive. Since I don't think we can guarantee 10 people for a private time at Earlington, I think this would be a good option for us.

That place sounds like the way to go. We may have a family / wedding thing on the 14th so I'm not sure we can go but we'll see what happens with that.

What time of day are we thinking? I had something come up for the late afternoon but could possibly attend if we go in the early afternoon or nighttime.

For time whatever works best for folks. I'm completely free that day, and PinCrossing is open 11 am until 2 am. Care to propose a time that would work for you?

We are less than a week out - anyone still interested/available? If not, we can bag it and try again later in the year.

I am going to be occupied for the next rash of weekends, so I am out, but I would love to get this pulled together before too long.
