Fri July 12 at 6:30 PM, Bryant Park - Ping pong tables
41 West 40th Street, New York, NY, USA (Map & Directions)
July 12th and 13th are Manhattangenge where the setting sun is aligned with streets going east/west.
I propose we gather and for drinks and to view the miraculous layout of our fair city.
Lets meet at Bryant Park on the 12th between 6:30 and 7:30 near the ping pong tables and we can find a viewing area for 8:22 maybe get drinks after.

Ok so I've done some googling and it seems we want to be as far east as possible and on Friday the 12th we'll need to be there with cameras ready at 8:22 pm to see the full sun.
I'm going to suggest we meet at Bryant Park by the ping pong tables and then we can all mosey on over together to a good viewing spot and maybe find a bar afterwards.

There is good food in that area but I do not know of any decent bars. Suggestions are welcome. (Food recommendations are the newest Xi'an Famous Foods and Num Pang. Hale and Hearty does good soup and sandwiches, although by 6-7pm the selection gets limited. For those who like fast food, there is a Chipotle across the street and a Wendy's up on 45th under the Fox New building.)
I will probably be going to Xi'an Famous Foods for an early dinner. Anyone interested in grabbing a bite before this, say around 5:30-6?

The footbridge at Tudor City is a good viewing spot but you have to get there stupid early.

Ok, I can't read. I thought this was tonight. Since it's tomorrow (as in Friday), I can definitely meet you for Xi'an.
I happened to be on 23rd Street right before sunset, and it was gorgeous! I am going to bring the real camera for some better shots.

Brief update: Eideteker left early, clear skies were a no-show, and we decided to go to The Archive instead. I checked out afterward, while the rest of the group took in a movie.

Pacific Rim was very enjoyable. Lots of explosions, robots, monsters, a complete disregard for the laws of physics, and Ron Perlman in some badass shoes.
