Who's up for board games again?
Confirmed: July 20th at the Board Room, 1:30 p.m. to whenever we're gamed out.
You can bring your own games or rent theirs. The Board Room is 21+ although they may be able to accommodate younger folks if you let me know a few days in advance so I can ask politely.
They don't have a kitchen, but you can bring in food or have it delivered there, and there are plenty of food options within a few blocks. They do have a good beer selection and nice bartenders.

I can make the 13-14, but not 20-21. And I will bring Go and Cards Against Humanity (with both expansion packs!) if anyone is interested.

Oooh I super want to go but the 13th/14th doesn't work for me so I vote for 20th/21st although I would be sad to miss anotherpanacea.

For my part, I'm pretty sure that Mr. and Mrs. Pterodactyl would be better people to play Cards Against Humanity with than me. This is basically like Sophie's Choice or the Gift of the Magi or something.

The weekend of the 20th/21st is my preference, too, although I'm sorry it doesn't work for you, anotherpanacea.
It's weird that you didn't get an alert, C'est la D.C. I thought I set everything up correctly, but I'll double check when we're ready to confirm it.
How do folks feel about the 20th? Saturdays seem like quieter days at the Board Room, but we managed fine on a Sunday last time -- at least until the highly competitive Jenga game at the next table kicked off. :-)

Hello! I've been living in the DC area for about a year (transplant from western Mass) and have never been to a Mefi meetup, sadly. I'd love to join you all! I'll be coming down from the Silver Spring area on the red line. Haven't been to the Board Room before but it sounds like a great time. Either Saturday would be doable for me!
PS - Not sure of the style and level of board games that everyone will want to play, but I can bring Dominion if there is interest. Although, I'm very interested in playing Cards Against Humanity with mefites!

I'm going to go ahead and call this for the 20th, then. (Next time, anotherpanacea!)
And pants, there will be at least 2 other people there who enjoy Dominion and are happy to help others learn to play, so please feel free to bring it. Last time we had a couple of games that would stretch to around 10 people or so that everyone could play together (like Fluxx), and some games that play better with 3-5 (like Zombie Dice) and we'd have a couple of them going at the same time.
I'm going to be out of town without internet access (the horror) until early next week -- I doubt any questions would come up that can't be solved with recourse to Google or other MeFites, but just in case, silence does not mean I'm ignoring you.

I haven't done a meetup in quite a while, but this sounds great. My girlfriend and I will try to make it. (He says now in hopes that it will prompt him to actually go when the time comes...)

Well, I had a good time, and it was great to see everyone who made it out! Special shout out to aretesophist (I think? Sorry if I'm misremembering handles) for providing Cards Against Humanity. I didn't get any pictures, though. For a hopefully even better time next time: 1) I will make the reservation earlier with the aim of getting the back section or upstairs, 2) I'll bring Dominion, 3) anotherpanacea will be able to make it.

I'll (try to) be there next time! A late night Friday coupled with the brutality of late July heat had me exhausted and reluctant to leave air conditioning for even a moment. I loved the first one, though, and will redouble my efforts in the future!
