So this just snuck up on me. The largest beer festival in Europe is happening in my back yard this weekend and Leucistic Cuttlefish will also be here, anyone able to join us on short notice?
The Zythos Bierfestival is the largest beer-tasting festival in Europe. More than 100 Belgian brewers present 500 different types of beer. You will find a gigantic selection of Belgian beers in one place, Leuven's Brabanthal. Entrance is free. In exchange for a token of € 1.40 , you get your glass filled up with 15 cl at the stands.
Throughout the city there are beer tours, beer workshops, Leuven beer stories, tastings at Huisbrouwerij Domus and even the world's biggest brewer, Stella Artois brewery throws open its doors to the curious visitor. Don't miss 'Extra Muros' on the Oude Markt: the bars offer rare beers.
Leuven is the place to be(er) during the last weekend of April. The perfect ingredients for a great city trip. These hotels offer interesting deals during Zythos and beerpackages all year long.
And that's not all: During five weekends from 13 April to 12 May, 15 breweries in Flemish Brabant invite you to visit and several beer villages and towns put on a host of beer activities for your enjoyment. Take a plunge into the world of malt, barley and yeast during the delicious Beer month in Flemish Brabant.
Here is the official website with the beer list

I should be living in Belgium by late September (funding and work permits willing) so I'll be keeping an eye out for the later one.

I do love a good excuse to potter around in the sun on a weekend, especially if it's for a beer or four.
Are you planning on going on Saturday, Sunday, or both? All options look good!

Thankfully it will only be cloudy on Saturday, though the festival proper is in a massive hall just outside of Leuven. I'll be around for more of Saturday than Sunday, and I've also got a spare bike you can use so we can totter around Leuven to the Oude Markt where there will be special beers and to workshops or brewery tours that will be on.

Incidentally, the spare bike just busted a tire, whoops.
