Wed November 14 at 6:00 PM, Tired Hands Brewing Company
16 Ardmore Ave, Ardmore, PA, USA (Map & Directions)
Confirmed: Wednesday, November 14th, 6ish Hey Main Line (and interested parties in Philly/other suburbs!) Tired Hands Brewing in Ardmore worked out really well last time-- good beers, in pours of 4 ounces - Growler, homemade bread and butter, and good company. We survived the hurricane, so perhaps a pre-Thanksgiving Meetup is in order? Let me know dates/times that work best, and see you soon!
Facebook for updates on what they've tapped lately: https://www.facebook.com/tiredhands

Location: 16 Ardmore Avenue, Ardmore, PA.
Near local parking lot, street parking, and the R5 regional rail stop; we're 18 minutes out of 30th Street.

Hooray! This was a lot of fun last time, and Philly people - it is SO easy and fast to get to Tired Hands on the R5, and the beer, food, and space were all really impressive and worth the trip.

I'm actually pretty open for the week of Thanksgiving and the week before it. Mondays aren't great for me (but I'll still come if everyone else wants a Monday) but as of right now I could easily come out the 13th, 14th, 15th, or 20th. I work until 5 in center city so anytime from about 6ish on works well for me.

I'll look into attending this one. The 16th is the only date that is out for me.

I work in Center City until 5:30 so I'd probably get there a little after 6.

Wednesday is probably best for me if all else is equal with everyone else.

If the date works I'd love to try to make this. Was at Tired Hands a month or so ago and they have good brews.

I visited Tired Hands for the first time last week, and would love to go back.

Awesome! Any objections to next Wednesday the 14th, around six?

I'd like in! Tired Hands is a wonderful, wonderful bar.

Oh, poo--the 14th is the only day I can't do, but I'll look forward to the December meetup, which we'll have to plan!

Oh no, I'm sorry that happened again!! Me-mail me about December!

I might be able to make this- it's a tossup between this and the Mykki Blanco/Death Grips show at First Unitarian, depending on how tired/in need of booze I am and how willing I am to squeeze into a packed basement.

This is a definite possibility. I have class till 6, but he usually ends early.

It looks like we'll be taking a later train, which puts us there by 6:40ish. Is that ok or is that too late?
posted by Diskeater at 9:02 AM on November 13, 2012

Totally fine! I'll plan to be there around 6 and I'll update this with what I'm wearing/identifying info/sitting tomorrow afternoon. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

I think last time the meetup started winding down around 8, and troublewithwolves and I took the 8:30 train back into the city. So getting there around 6:40 would still give you almost two hours to hang out - and if this ends up being a bigger group than last time, with more late arrivals, we might not wind down quite so early.

Everyone should come! This place is really good!

Dunno that I'll be able to make this one but glad to know it's going on near-ish to my new suburban home!

Excellent - I can make it :)

Okay, I am sitting at a table downstairs with troublewithwolves! I look like someone in need of a drink wearing a motorcycle-style jacket in a shade of party-TARDIS blue, so come say hi!

We've been joined by jessypie et al. so we've moved upstairs.

Lot of fun hanging out with everyone! MikeKn, I didn't get a chance to talk to you but it was great seeing you again and I'm very happy you joined up. Extra special thanks to Jetlagaddict for setting this up. Can't wait for the next one!

Ha, that rap was great and nothing at all like the George Washington song which I am sure you have all seen already but which I am compelled to link to whenever the situation allows it!

I'm so excited that we're establishing some regular Philly meetups, and that more people are starting to join us! What comes next after having a regular drinking location and a regular games-playing location?

(There could be bowling at the charming and frequently empty PEP Bowl or we could try again for Quizzo somewhere or it is possible that troublewithwolves and I were plotting one time about finding some way to get us all to New Jersey to ride Clydesdale horses...)

I would vote for Local 44 for Sunday night quizzo or Monday evening happy hour at the bottle shop when they have a rep from a brewery and complimentary beer tastings.

More meetups are a good thing.

Bowling sounds fun. I can't reach the PEP Bowl website right now but there's also North Bowl up in NoLibs. It's impossible to get a lane on Fridays or Saturdays but I've had no problem during the work week.

Bowling sounds awesome, and trail rides on draft horses sound super awesome.

Also Pep Bowl is right across the street from me, rarely crowded and best of all you can bring your own booze and snacks, so it winds up being hella cheap and you can eat fancy cheeses and drink nice beers while you bowl which is a damn fine time.

Is this Septa-accessible? Because that sounds AMAZING. I can help with the fancy cheese selection!

ps: forgot to mention that I am also pro-Local 44 meetups, because I'm pro-anything with cheese/beer/ponies enormous horses

PEP Bowl is right off the Ellsworth/Federal BSL stop (also easily accessible by any bus that runs along or near Broad or Washington). I've been there twice, both on Sunday afternoons, and both times my group had the place to ourselves for nearly the entire time we were there.

I would definitely try a Local 44 Quizzo meetup too, though I worry about their space and their policies about getting a table when it's crowded (I've only been there a couple times, but I'm pretty sure they work the same as Memphis, where you need your full party there and at least some of you need to be ordering dinner to get a table). I've heard good things about their Quizzo, though. Can anyone who's been there speak up on whether it would be realistic for a largish, slightly disorganized group to get a table? Does anyone know what the max team size is there?

I've been to Sunday night Quizzo at Nodding Head a few times and I'm confident we could get a large table there as long as 1-2 of us showed up on the early side. I think their Quizzo teams cap off at 7 before you start getting penalized. Also there are other Quizzos not on Sunday nights, if other days of the week are better.

I think this Riding The Ponies concept needs further investigation. That one would involve an investment of cold hard cash up front, though, which makes things more complicated.

I think Local 44 Quizzo is pretty chill. I live a block away, so can stop by and find out for sure (actually, that would be a great thing to do right now)... but when I went before, there was plenty of room (despite how cramped it can be) and it wasn't very cutthroat. And if we need to order dinner to get a table, I volunteer. I love their menu.

(Oh how did I not mention -- ponies = <3<3<3)

Bowling and Quizzo and ponies - oh my! I don't know how often I'll get into the cities for these, but I'm up for anything. If you ever want to try a new place in the 'burbs, TJs in Paoli is right next to the train station. Bingo on Tuesdays and Quizzo on Thursdays.
