Wed October 17 at 12:40 PM, Rogue Hall
1717 SW Park Ave, Portland, OR, USA (Map & Directions)
Hey fellow MeFites, I have some downtime between classes and there's a Rogue Hall on campus. Who wants to join me for lunch on Wednesday, October 17th?
My Calc class gets out at 12:35pm, so I figure we could meet at 12:40 or so.

Anybody have suggestions for other places near campus? Rogue Hall has pretty sad reviews.

There is a PSU cart pod and a Pizzicato pizza nearby. How close is nearby?

Hey, I'm taking classes at PSU now and also have a break in the middle of the day on Wednesdays (next class is at 2pm). I've never been to Rogue Hall, and the only review I've heard of them is that they have a pretty good steak salad type thing if you're trying to find low-carb options near campus (I'm not). I'm up for trying them, but if you're looking for other options:

There's a McMennamins nearby on Market St., and there's Park Avenue Cafe. When we used to live in this area we basically ate at these two places all the time, because they're reliable. Park Avenue Cafe has standard cafe food, some interesting grilled sandwiches, and mediterranean food. It's rumored there is also an East Side Deli (huge meaty sandwiches, tons of build your own options) right there on the park blocks. There's one of these on Lombard near my house, and it's pretty good, so I assume the downtown location is too.

Also (after walking across town to a different location), I just found out there's a Nong's Khao Man Gai near PSU- is that at the foodcart pod? I keep seeing carts scattered around, but nothing truely pod-like, so I'm assuming I haven't been there yet.

I can say that East Side Deli does have good sandwiches. The space is small, but there are the park blocks....

And I completely forgot about the McMenamins Market Street Pub. It might be better.

Bummer! I too am taking classes at PSU, but I'm actually going to be in Indiana next week. Another lunch around PSU some time perhaps? As weird as it sounds, anatomy class always makes me hungry.

Yeah, I'm up for more lunches too- so if you want to start another thread for a later date, go for it.

Today I went to that cart pod- yum. Not a vote or anything, just a comment.

For some reason this makes perfect sense.

So are we final on Rogue Hall or are we going to try someplace else?
posted by fiercekitten at 7:14 PM on October 15, 2012

I figure we can meet on the corner of 10th and Montgomery and make the final decision.

Sounds like a plan. My vote is for something inside with sitting- I've got a little bit of a cold so I'm feeling run down.

I didn't think Rogue Hall was bad. I wouldn't rave about it- then again, I didn't order one of their specialties or anything and I didn't have beer. So, just for future generations or whatever who may read this thread- Rogue Hall = totally acceptable food.

And yes, we should do another lunch meetup.
