Columbus Ave, New York, NY, USA (Map & Directions)
The New York Pirate Party is organizing a protest where we all gather outside Lincoln Center, dress as pirates, and sing copyrighted songs while holding up signs reading "THIS IS ILLEGAL". This Saturday, we rehearse the event.
The protest is supposed to illustrate the absurdity of copyright law, in which publicly singing a popular song is something you could get sued for.

Lincoln Center Plaza is conveniently right across the street from the headquarters of ASCAP, an performance-rights organization which has been known for demanding $3000/year licensing fees from businesses that host live music (or even play music on their loudspeaker).

If you'd like to participate, come to the rehearsal this Saturday. No need to wear your pirate costume or bring any protest signs. We'll be working out the song list, practicing singing, and ultimately setting a date for the protest itself.
