Me, Live at the Spice of Life in London's West End

Sun May 27 at 7:30 PM, Spice of Life
Moore St, Soho, London, Greater London W1D 5NB, UK (Map & Directions)
Me being Grangousier. (That's my MeFi superhero name, my real name is John Peacock). And this being a gesture in the general direction of promoting said bout of self-expression in the general direction of anyone who might have met me at a previous MeFi piss-up social event and consequently be interested or curious or such. I'll be playing a half-hour set at 20:00 in the basement of The Spice of Life, right in the heart of London's West End, next door to Singing in the Rain. It's free to get in, which is important in these days of reduced access to coinage.
Never sure whether promoting gigs on here is appropriate, as it's mostly about me showing off, after all. But it should be a good night - I'll be supporting Rob Thom and Veronica Turner, who are both very fine.

More or less the same information with a blue background at my website here.

Facebook event page (which is the same thing again, but Facebooky) here.

Ach, I would come but I'll be in Amsterdam that weekend. Have a good show!

I'll be in Madrid, sorry. Please post again when you next have a gig.

Alas, I'll be serving up the nutroast at your friendly Hackney neighborhood vegan co-op café that evening. I'll keep my eyes peeled for further gigs, though.

Wait, your web site says the gig is at 8 - is it 8 or 7:30?

I've changed it! - the doors open at 7:30, I'm on at 8:00. I don't know why I put that there. I tend to overthink filling in forms, I think "I know I'm on at 8:00, but it officially begins at 7:30, consarnit".

It is actually a nice little venue - most of the week it's jazz and show-tunes, I think. Mondays is an open-mic which, by many accounts, is astonishingly busy. I played an impromptu gig there a few months ago (impromptu in that I was booked about an hour and a half before I was to go on), which was quite quiet because all the acts had cancelled that day.

And thanks for posting, people! One nice side effect of sending out gig emails is that I get to hear about all the fascinating other things that people are doing - it's a great way to keep in touch with folks I've not seen for a while. I mean, Amsterdam! Madrid! a Hackney neighborhood vegan co-op café!

Huzzah! I will practise even harder. Or practice. Or both.

....Just as long as your set won't consist entirely of, like, thrash-metal remakes of show tunes performed entirely on the accordian or something.

On second thought, that might be awesome.

I wish.

No, seriously, I do. In any case, it would be lovely to see you, and it should be a nice place for a Sunday evening drink, and a relaxing stroll if you're 'lagged. I'll try to remember to bring you a complimentary Arse-jittering cattle MeFi Favorites lapel pin.

(Or should that be complementary, I'm never sure?)

I'm sorry, I have a busy weekend ahead with two very late nights (piano bar tonight, Eurovision party Saturday) and as Sunday is a 'school night', I'm afraid I'll have to pass. But let us know when the next one is.

Forgot to check in - it was a lively house (especially after that guy in the Lakers team shirt showed up) and a fine time was had by all. and Mefi's Own Grangousier had a fine set - the rest of y'all, check him out next time!
