Columbus, OH - Origins gaming con

Fri June 1 at 5:30 PM, The North Market
59 Spruce St, Columbus, OH, USA (Map & Directions)
Columbus-area mefites, and those of the more nerdly persuasion who are in town for the Origins Gaming Convention, I propose a meetup at the North Market on June 1st at 5:30.
As suggested, we'll meet outside the main entrance to the market.

That sounds like an awesome convention! If anyone wants to crash on a couch just north of the University let me know.

In terms of good places for a meetup, right near the Convention Center is the North Market, which is a big collection of small businesses in a giant old warehouse with a ton of awesome non-conventioney places to eat.

We likewise have room at the inn in German Village just south of downtown. The North Market is a good idea, or the beer pub right around there.

I'd support a meetup at North Market!

North Market is great for this - there's also a bunch of restaurants and bars right around there because of the Arena District. Knead is a good balance of affordable / fancy / tasty.

Sadly, I normally WOULD be there, but work is sending me to Baltimore all that week and I won't be back until late Saturday. :(

May be able to do this - our Toastmasters group has a double meeting (once at noon, once at 6pm) on Thursday, the 31st, but the 30th and the 1st/2nd are basically OK, and I work downtown, so the North Market is easy enough.

By the way, if you're not busy on the 31st, and feel like watching speeches for an hour or so, we have free parking. ;)

A meetup at the North Market sounds like fun.

For the convention itself, there's also a food court inside the convention center that might be convenient for you over the course of the weekend. Although since you've never been to Columbus before, if you have the time, I'd really recommend driving/walking out to some of the restaurants in the area. (Schmidt's, etc) It depends a little on if you have costuming plans or not, though. If you're pressed for time, I'd still recommend North Market > gross food court food if you can; there are enough booths there that you'd easily be able to try something new and delicious every time. (oh! you should definitely try Jeni's on at least one of those visits.)

How would Friday evening at 5:30 at the North Market sound to people?

The North Market is open until 7 on fridays, that would work great for me!

Sounds good to me!

Fine here as well.

Oh, also...where should we meet inside the building?

We could just meet outside the entrance?

Sounds good! I've updated the date, time and place.

I'll be in town for Origins, and since I was thinking about it because we just scheduled our regular Chicago get together, I checked for the Origins timeline Columbus meetup and tada!

Meeting during regular gaming times (which is like 8am to 10pm for me) may make my attendance more problematic, but I'll add this to my list of things to try to get done this week.

Yes, it was nice to meet you all as well! I have since consumed my gargantuan samosa, it was quite delicious.
