Sat May 27 at 11:00 AM, Redpath Sugar Plant
95 Queens Quay E, Toronto, ON M5E 1A3, Canada (Map & Directions)
Got some maybes, so I'm going to go ahead and confirm since we're going for sure. If industrial thingies interest you, this might be for you. We're visiting the Redpath Sugar plant on the waterfront, as it's a Doors Open Toronto location this year. Conventional bar meetup thing to follow if people are around.
When:

11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 27

Where:

Meet up at Queen's Quay, south side, right across from Cooper Street to join the lineup to get in.

How to find us:

Will update with a conspicuous wardrobe description in the thread the day of. Pro tip: I will be accompanied by a large blind guy carrying a white cane.

Meetup to follow at a local pub (The Jason George, our frequent haunt for Toronto meetups, is nearby but totally open to suggestions.) Thinking maybe I'll make a reservation for 2:30 if we've got some takers. Let me know in the thread.

Oh hai there!

I'm visiting From Sam Francisco for two weeks, and I was just considering extending my stay by a day to see Open Doors. So I'm a maybe.

I would love to do this but I'm singing with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony that night, so I'm not sure if I'm staying overnight in Kitchener the night before, or what time I'm leaving on Saturday to get there. Once I figure that out...maybe I will be able to come!

(Does a Type 1 diabetic have to wear protective gear to tour the plant?) ;)

After I posted this I thought, you know, this could be a problem...but after some contemplation, I'm pretty sure it's a.) just a big pile of sugar we look at and not b.) hearing "DOORS OPEN! EAT IT!" broadcast over the plant's P.A. system as burly longshoremen charge us with fitsfuls of raw sugar, aimed for our terrified mouths.

Now, this being said, the more attendees we have, the more likely it is that someone will be able to escape to tell the tale if scenario "b.)" is actually the how it shakes out.
