November Brunch at Ronald McDonald House

Sat November 2 at 8:30 AM, Ronald McDonald House -- Hyde Park
5444 South Drexel Avenue, Chicago, IL, USA (Map & Directions)
RMH brunch: We're becoming old pro's at this now. Let's do it again and keep that ball rolling.
This event is the brunch event. We are also doing dinner. It's event page is here. We've also done meals a couple times in the past, and those threads are all here.
Hyde Park RMH asks that we have no more than 12 people. I don't think that should be a problem, but keep that in mind.
At Hyde Park, they ask us to cook for around 30 people plus the group of us that comes, and to have brunch ready around 10am. I'm happy to help coordinate menus and food amounts and anything else that might need coordinating.
For those that haven't done this before -- they have kitchens in the houses that are well stocked with standard kitchen ware and utensils and tools. We will bring the food along for cooking. Spices they sometimes have, and sometimes don't, so it's safer to bring, but if you forget and it's common, don't worry. They're happy with us cooking whatever menu that we'd like, but to remember that we're cooking for a variety of people with a variety of tastes, so multiple dishes work better than one giant pot of pork (for instance) so that everyone will be able to eat. So, what do you want to make (yourself, or as a suggestion for the group menu). Please do make suggestions, otherwise I'll accidently come up with something that's a lot of work for everyone like pierogi from scratch.
For those wanting to go, but concerned about distance, carpooling with someone else in the thread is definitely an option -- we've had volunteers to drive in the past, and that'll pop up again here.

Muffins sound delicious right now.
I'm tempted to do homemade biscuits with sausage gravy. That should be doable, right?
Maybe we can get a frittatta or quiche going too. Yum, brunch.

I think someone offered to make frittatas?
If so, I can coordinate with garlic-- want to be a biscuit & gravy team?
If not, I'm open to suggestions. I could make french toast or something in that realm.

I may do a baked oatmeal or an egg strata.
If there's a ride I can hitch, I'll take it.

The event says 8PM, FYI.
I could do beignets. Something sweet would be nice.
Also, misskaz makes crazy good quesadillas that I think could make a spectacular breakfast option, especially with a couple of different filling options.
Crush, I got ya.

I'm really good with eggs. I can do strata, or fritattas/spanish tortillas, or make those quesadillas Eamon mentioned. I could add eggs to some to make them breakfast-y.

I'm going to get a request to finalize the menu any day now. Anyone have any changes they want to propose?

So...muffins pending.

I got a note from the volunteer coordinator that PJ's are being distributed to the house residents the night before and they're asking them to wear them to brunch. They said it would be cool if we wore our PJ's to brunch as well. What do you guys think?

Shit, guys. Sorry I forgot to update...this is when our service unit is going to be having our dia de los muertos party, so instead of baking muffins I will be painting calaveras on the faces of about 40 girl scouts.
You guys have fun!

I am having disproportionate anxiety over what to wear as PJs to brunch.

There will be 25 adults in the house, plus us 8 for 33 people eating our brunch.

remember, not everyone is going to eat some of everything, or if they do, it'll be small servings.

As the most proximal Mefite, I feel compelled to volunteer as sous, for anyone who feels they need one, otherwise I'll just stop by (probably not in PJs, with the blessing) and say hi.

Rolling out dough is my most hated thing, so if you want to help me with that I could totally use the help.

Well, I'm not a high and holy roller by any means, but I'll gladly offer my forearms as tribute for beignets.

I'm worried I didn't make enough strata but I know we always have bonzo leftovers so I keep telling myself it will be fine.
