Hi all Roma MeFites,
Looks like we've settled on Eataly. Still slightly up in the air as to whether it's Monday or Tuesday but for now, we'll meet at the Eataly front entrance at 12:00 PM, Tuesday, 4 December.
I made the restaurant suggestion last time, so maybe it's somebody else's turn now.

Right before the book fair..mmhh..maybe I can make an exception for Mefites ;) .
For supper, I know a fantastic restaurant for meat, if you guys are into meat, in Piazza Augusto Righi, 36 (Osteria della Carne) whose owners are also friends of mine. But it may be slightly inconvenient for people without a car, as the damn metro B closes way too eartly!
For lunch....let me see!

Oh, that came just into mind.... http://www.roma.eataly.it/ Eatily at Stazione Ostiene is very easily reachable by Metro B during lunchtime , and with the exception of Ristorante Italia which costs and arm and a leg, there's plenty to eat. On the flip side, it may be crowded. I'll look for more.

Sounds good to me! Good to reach by public transport, too. My understanding is that there are several different eateries inside - any particular one known for good food and good prices?

I propose we meet at the front entrance to Eataly at 12 noon on Monday the 3rd. I can do Tuesday as well. I tried to parse out the individual restaurants but the web site was no help.

Xurando: Fine by me, although would slightly prefer Tuesday, but no big deal. I agree the website isn't very helpful, but I'm sure we could do a quick recce and decide on something that inspires us.
romakimmy: a pity :-( But I'll need to come into Rome by car anyway: taking Mrs aqsakal to a med appointment late morning, and anyway since 1 November I can't ride my ancient motorbike with a Euro-0 polluting class engine in Rome. So we could happily swing by and pick you and Peanut up if that would help...

Xurando: it occurs to me that, if you have no other plans after lunch, there are two worthwhile sights to see which you might or might not know, each only 20 minutes on foot from Eataly (excellent walk for digestion, if the rain holds off). One is the so-called "English cemetery" (but more correctly the non-Catholic cemetery), and the other is the Centrale Montemartini museum. I'd be happy to visit either of these again with you, if you're interested - been looking for a long time for a good excuse to go back.

And as far as I can see from the website, the Osterie Romane option looks good - something genuinely local for Xurando to experience, and probably not too expensive.
