Deep Fried Mars Bars à gogo

Sat September 22 at 6:30 PM, St. Andrews Fish and Chips

Since many people have never experienced a proper deep fried mars bar, I'm proposing a meetup at St. Andrews Fish and Chips (1589 Ellesmere Road, Toronto ON M1P 2Y3) at 6:30pm on Saturday 22nd September.
They run traditional chipshop hours, so it's a weeknight, we'll be out by 7:15. They're closed Sunday and Monday, but are open to the dizzyingly late hour of 7:45 on Friday and Saturday. The place is about five minutes on foot from Scarborough Town Centre RT station.

Please note that there will be no vegetarian option, as I think they fry in some class of deadlicious animal rendering. They do a very traditional Scottish-style fish and chips.

I'll confirm with them on Monday if they can take a party, and whether they will have the Mars Bars ...

I just realized we will have a houseguest on that weekend, so we're a maybe. She'll be doing loads of traveling before and after her visit here, and she's not a mefite. So depending on what other things we end up doing in the name of showing her around, we may bring her or we may just stay in and catch the next meetup.

For wendy BD and myself, we are somewhere in the range between "Maybe" and "Attending." She is at an event in downtown until circa 4:00 PM an there is a small but non-zero chance she will be too tuckered to go eat deep-fried anything (and she is my ride). Additionally, there is a small chance that we will have a houseguest crashing in our spare room that evening and we may have to head home to open the door for him. I cannot guarantee our attendance, but I would put it 85% likely.

Confirmed for 6(ish) people at 6:30pm under the name "Metafilter". They will have DFMBs; I checked. Wish there was a reputable pub nearby, but none I know of.

The place is easy to get to by transit; it's about 5-10 minutes walk south and east from Scarborough RT, which is a direct link at Kennedy subway. You could also walk south and west from McCowan RT (less scenic, though).

ricochet biscuit, if you can't make it out on Saturday, The Thistle (3455 Fairview) looks a bit closer to your QTH, and meets or exceeds my expectations.

I'm headed out on a chow tour with some friends earlier in the day, so whether I will make it back in for this will depend a bit on what kind of time we spend at dim sum, etc. I'm still planning to be there, but I've pushed back to a maybe just in case.

Looks like Routergirl and I (plus house guest) are unlikely to 'no'. We're heading to Buffalo and Niagara on Saturday and its almost certain we'll not be back in time to get downtown by then.

So we'll have to bow out. Next time.
