Calgary Meetup at the Hop In Brew
*** UPDATE***
Well let's just shoot for the last weekend of May and see if that works for anyone :) I haven't been to the Hop In Brew yet, looks like a perfectly acceptable choice. I'm putting down Friday, May 25 - if you want the date changed let me know.
Will see if I can make a reservation, will make it next week.

Would love to join a meetup. Past events have usually happened at the Hop-In Brew, but I know some other locales have been suggested in the past.

I would love to come, but can't really be counted on. I live in Lethbridge, have a newborn, and am planning trips to Ontario and BC in May/June. If the stars align in terms of timing, I'll be there.

Interested, yes! Like articwoman I'll be doing a lot of traveling this summer - first half of May in New Zealand and the Cook Islands, last half of June in Boston and Halifax - but will be around Calgary for the rest of the summer, unless the road calls me to take a long bike trip.
(I have plans to do a Mefi Early Fall Harvest Party at my house with fresh produce from my gardens at some stage, but that won't be for another couple of years... by which time articwoman's and gompa's babies will be toddlers and small children, and hopefully more transportable :-)

YES I AM INTERESTED YAY, I mean, this sounds like a good idea. Anytime in either May or June is probably okay for me, as far as I know at this point.

I missed the last one for, in retrospect, terrible reasons. I should be town from mid-May through June, but gone in July to try avoid the stampede.
Arcticseal: if you want thoughts on 'where things are', let me know. I've only been here a few years, but feel like I have a pretty good grip on the inner-city neighbourhoods.

Ok, I haven't made a reservation but I will as soon as they open today, will make it for Metafilter. If not, I'll be there a bit early to get a spot for 6, and will let them know you're going to ask for the Metafiter group. After action report: A small but hearty gang of MeFites assembled at the table next to the ominous crowd with Revolutionary War garb and sketchpads. Including lizbunny's coworkers, this was a sufficiently new group of Calgarians that the median number of Stampede survived was 0. Topics of discussion included "hey, so tell me about yourself" and "oilsands: it's complicated." Turns out there were a lot of engineers/geologists, although there was a limited amount of talking shop. A good time was had by all.
Towards the end, lizbunny, arcticseal and I thought that we should not only do this again, but we should try for monthly. All Calgarians (and other southern Albertans), consider yourselves forewarned.

A regular meetup would be awesome. And just having me at the table will bring up your median number of Stampedes survived (defined as "get the hell out of town for" or "pretend it ain't happening") considerably.
