Every Sunday in October, Old World Village in Huntington Beach, puts on the sport of kings: Dachshund Racing! The races run from 3 PM to 4 PM. I propose Metafilters from far and near meet up at around 1 PM for sausages and beer. We'll carefully discuss the merits of the fine wiener dog athletes and then cheer them on. I'm not exactly sure, but I think the entry fees total out to $2. [more inside]

After the LA meetup recently I have decided to have another go at organizing an OC/South LA meetup. And what's better for a meet up than cheese! I want to try Knafeh (A near eastern cheese pastry, deep fried with syrup and covered with pistachios) and Anaheim's Knafeh Cafe seems like a good place to give it a shot. I figure we could start off these for cheese and hit some nearby bar for drinks after. Let me know if metafilter is interested before I hit the place on my lonesome. I enjoyed the LA area meet up I went to recently, but it's in the far North of LA and that cuts out a bunch of the Orange County and South Bay mefis I see out there. [more inside]
