Cooking, chat, other people's kitchens. Let's try it at 11 am Eastern this week so that those in the west don't have to get up too early to join us.

I am definitely going to try to make it to this one! Does everyone bake together, or is just hanging out also ok? (although I do have a carrot cake I want to make..)

Hanging out is fine, and we bake or cook our own things, so no group recipe or anything.

I've just realized the layout of my apartment could complicate this, since my roommate will be doing his own zoom call at this time and it's like five feet from the kitchen....I'll see whether we can accomodate.

She's not winning any beauty pageants, but my apple and pear cake thing is pretty tasty!

phunnimee - that looks good!

The bagels came out.. sort of. they didn't hold together very well once shaped, and they were very bumpy - dough was definitely too dry. we tried them anyway, and they definitely tasted like bagels! I will try again, but this was a decent first try.

Carrot cake will be tasted today.

It was so much fun to hang out with everyone!

I was too sick on Saturday to shower and do the dishes, but I did end up baking applesauce muffins on Sunday.

If this is directed at me and my weird cake...um.

-Chop up all the fruit that's about to go bad. In my case that was 3 pears and 1 apple.
-Put a bunch of cinnamon and nutmeg on it and let it sit while you drop out of date eggs in a glass of water to see which have gone off.
-Mix up a stick of softened butter and a half cup of sugar.
-Add 2 eggs to that.
-Mix a cup of flour and a few shakes of salt in with the fruit.
-Dump the fruit mixture into the egg mixture and exclaim surprise when it looks like batter.
-Put it into whatever container will fit into your almost full dishwasher the best, in my case it was a loaf pan.
-Bake in a 350 deg oven until it's done, it took mine a little over an hour.

Baking is a science.
