Staged reading of play by Max Sparber: Kishinev
The epic story of an anti-Semitic riot in 1903 told in the form of a Jewish folk tale. A young female mystic and her community of Hasids experience the event through the lens of Yiddish legends and the daily details of Jewish life in turn-of-the-century Eastern Europe. [more inside]
Baseball, Hot Dogs, Literature and Manitoba's
Spur of the moment invite: Baseball writer Dan Epstein will be doing a reading at my beloved Manitoba's Bar on Sunday June 29th at 7pm. Handsome Dick himself will be participating as well. And there's free hot dogs. Me and some of my co-workers will be there. It'd be cool to have some mefites there as well.
Blarging it up
I'm going to be blarging up New York from the 4th to the 6th of November, and I was wondering if any mefites would want to meet up? It's been a while since I lived in the city, so any suggestions for a venue would be awesome.
(I tend to go by the name blarg on #bunnies. I should probably go by that name on metafilter, too!)

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
My new show, a stage adaptation of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, is getting some very nice reviews. Our opening night was mostly filled with a huge group from the Science Fiction Writers of America, which made me think of (Mefi's own) jscalzi, which made me think of posting this to IRL. So come on down to 3LD. We run through December 10.
FREE BOOKS!
Do you want a free copy of this book, inspired by a Metafilter post? (more) Can you meet me somewhere in mid to lower Manhattan at 5 this afternoon? I'm bringing a case to give away. If you can decide where we can all meet, I'll show up at 5 and give away as much of the case of books as there's interest for. I'm driving or working for most of the day, but I'll check back at 3 or 4 this afternoon and if anyone is interested, you're welcome to a free book. [more inside]
