MothUP Toronto #8 - The Internet

Wed January 19 at 8:00 PM, No One Writes to the Colonel
460 College St, Toronto, ON M6G 1A4, Canada (Map & Directions)
Pull a chair up for story time. The first MothUP of 2011 is quickly approaching and the theme this month is "The Internet". Come tell your own internet-related story or come just to listen. But make sure you get there early because the room fills up fast.
This is our first event at our new, bigger home at No One Writes to the Colonel, located on the northwest side of College and Bathurst.
Potential storytellers should submit their name and the title of their story at the start of the event or during the first intermission (for those of you who arrive late or need a little liquid courage before signing up). If you have an amazing (theme-related) story that must be told and you'd like to sign-up in advance, email a brief synopsis of your story to mothuptoronto@gmail.com.
For those who wish to tell stories, there are several guidelines:
Stories must be brief! 5-7 minutes
Stories must be TRUE.
Stories must be from personal experience!
Stories must be STORIES. No readings, no props, no notes, no stand-up!
It is a good idea to have the last line of your story in mind.
For additional questions about the event or for storytelling support, please message either of us directly! For guidelines or inspiration, go to http://www.themoth.org/listen or http://vimeo.com/groups/mothup.
This event is free.

I think 7:15 should be sufficient, but this is our first time in the new space and we have an unprecedented number of people RSVPing on facebook (for what that's worth), so don't be surprised if it's already buzzing around then!

Hmmm, maybe I'll show up earlier and have a drink/snack while I'm waiting.
I won't be telling a story, just lurking, but I'll keep an eye out for Sasshat. Felicity Rilke and custard heart: will you be telling stories, or are you the organizers?
I just want to know when to clap the loudest... :)

Custard heart and I are the hosts/organizers. Custard heart does the recording and I try my best to not bore you between storytellers. We try to be charming. We often tell stories, but don't have plans to tell any tomorrow night.

Great event! The speakers were all so smooth and professional and the whole thing was very entertaining. Unfortunately I did have to leave after the 2nd act because I had to prepare for a job interview tomorrow. Next time I'll stay for the whole thing.
Thanks for posting this on MeFi - please post the next one as well and hopefully a few more Mefites will catch on.

Thanks for making it out! Did we get to meet? (I assume no, but forgive me if I'm wrong). I'll post the next one as soon as I have the invite written up.
And for everyone who missed it, Sasshat totally knocked it out of the park.

No, I didn't speak with anyone, I just watched the show. I really wish I had stayed and seen SassHat!

What time do you suggest people arrive? How early is early? :) Would 7:15 be sufficient?
