Come to my house and eat all my cheese and drink whisky. You can stay over if you like. [more inside]
I've over in Dublin until July 1st, and wondering if any Mefites would like to meet up? We can either drink to forget or to celebrate whatever the result of the referendum is. ETA: Sorry: a range of family crises meant that I dropped the ball on this one. But if anyone wanted to meet on the 26th in the late afternoon/evening that would work for me. [more inside]
After a schedule bobble in May, we're back to the 2nd Sunday of the month. As ever: this is not just for knitting; any portable craft welcome. [more inside]
The Millennium Park Summer Film Series is showing movies (again) at the Pritzker Pavilion - bring a cheese plate or a bottle of something, a blanket to sit on, and be prepared to be EMOTIONALLY DESTROYED, courtesy Pixar. [more inside]
Nystekt Strömming, which is the number 1 item on Time's list of things to do in Stockholm, used to be at Slussen but no longer. The herring wagon has relocated to Kornhamnstorg, in Gamla Stan, and is open until 9 pm. So let us meet there to enjoy a Swedish landmark serving working class food. If herring isn't your bag, feel free to show up with take out and/or friends or family. [more inside]
Hello Mefites! Have you been itching to dance the night away? the Middle East downstairs hosts a goth dance night every first Friday and I would be happy to have lords/ladies/gender-nonspecific-royalty of darkness join me on May 11th. Meetup beforehand at the bar upstairs. Link here with complete details. [more inside]
I'll be in Belfast from May 10th to May 12th and am curious if any local MeFites would be interested in a meetup in the evening on the 10th or the 11th. Seeing as it was used for the previous meetup, maybe the Crown Bar?
Hey friends! I’m going to be in Austin this weekend for a conference, and would love to see mefites on Saturday night April 28.
Hello South Sounders! Me and Mr. Miss Mobtown have recently arrived from the Bay Area and we have befriended a few Seattleites but very few Tacomans. I never took advantage of IRLs when I lived in SF, but I'm stepping outside my comfort zone to suggest a meetup in Tacoma sometime in early May for a beer. What say you?
NYC's May Knitting Circle HAS BEEN POSTPONED to May 20. And issuing the reminder: we are NOT just for knitters; if your craft is portable, you are welcome. [more inside]
I'm from Puerto Rico and don't make it to the states often. I will be in Philadelphia for a conference from Sunday May 6 to Wednesday afternoon on the 9th. Proposing a casual meet-up, beers or somethun, to meet actual living MeFites.
After 2 months of constant shuttling between Seattle and Singapore (where I had never been until 2 months ago) I realized that there might be some MeFites (pronunciation flexible) in residence in Singapore. I just learned I will be going again and staying for three weeks (April 17 - May 4). So: Anyone interested in a meetup? [more inside]
Hi folks, you know the drill! City Bakery, 11 am, bring yer knittin' or crochet or whatever. FYI - there may also be a Saturday meetup starting on a different schedule, but at the same venue (someone has reached out to me about wanting to do that), so don't fret if you start seeing two meetups.
Linda and I have spoken about doing something on a weekend, like getting together some MeFites to see the film Lady Bird. Problem is, I can't get film programs for more than a week ahead except for art film houses, which aren't showing that at the moment. So, any suggestions for a weekend, earlier in the day outing, movie or otherwise this month? Ideas welcomed! (Consider checking out Biocafé Tellus for Sunday at 17:00 films to see if any of those are appealing.)
Oh hey - the Mr. and I will be in Rome this month from 26 March to 4 April. Anyone want to meetup for aperitivo? Or suggest someplace to eat for Easter supper? Thanks!
I moved here in January. I don't know anyone beyond my wife. I thought I'd see if there was anyone here that would be interested in a meet up. I live in the Montrose area, so inside the loop would be best. Drinks somewhere would be great, but something more unique would be cool too.
This coming weekend (Saturday, March 17th) we will be having a family-friendly meetup at the zoo! Everyone is welcome; we thought this would be a nice opportunity for people with kids and people without kids to hang out especially because the zoo is FREE! [more inside]
So I'm going to be in San Francisco for GDC, but I'm also staying for a few days afterwards, and would love to meet any local MeFites. Let's meet up in Union Square at noon on the 25th May. I will be wearing a bright green scarf.
I'm coming to Arkansas, and I'm ready to rock a little (har) - I'll be in Little Rock from the afternoon of March 18, leaving on March 22. Who's around and about and wants to grab a bite? [more inside]
As everybody who wrote postcards to voters until their hands cramped last month, the Illinois Primary is March 20th. Let's get together and discuss any questions we might have about the candidates and where our loyalties lie. Also BRUNCH! [more inside]
Join me, zerolives aka Phil, on Friday, March 9th at 5:30pm at Polo Grounds (Corner of 3rd and King) for beverages, pub food, and that witty mefi banter. [more inside]
Hey, San Diego, who's up for dinner on Saturday, March 3 at Village Kitchen? (yelp, San Diego Reader review). I'm taking a long weekend vacation to visit friends in La Jolla, and would love to manage a mefi meetup too.
Dinner in February was so fun that we are meeting up again. In March we will gather at Teatern in Ringen centrum near Skanstull subway station. Look for people wearing glasses, not wearing glasses, and a MetaFilter sign. If you get there early, feel free to grab a table for 6 or 8. If you can't be there exactly at 7 pm, no worries; drop by when you can. [more inside]
My journey has gotten me finally to the Pacific Northwest and I am slowly making my way up the coast. I should be in Portland on the 17th and I’m staying for a record breaking 2 weeks! I have long wanted to visit this hotbed of Metafilter, can we all get together for drinks or food or, I don’t know, it’s your city, you tell me where and when!
Babbers! Luvvers! I have repatriated to my motherland of Devon, and brought chrismear with me. I know we're a bit more far-flung down here, but would anyone be up for a meetup? [more inside]
I'm in León for the next few months! If one (or more) of y'all are, too, come have tea at my place! Or we can go to a place. There's options!
Hello San Francisco I will be visiting your beautiful city starting Friday 1/19 and wanna join any marchers on Saturday! Then we could have drinks? [more inside]
It's been awhile since one of our semi-regular meetups, and it would be great to catch up. [more inside]
Hey, crew. Happy new year! Wanna get trivial?
under_petticoat_rule and I will be in Bangkok for a good chunk of February. We'd love to have a meetup. We will be in Pratunam, near the mall. (Which mall? ALL OF THEM, apparently.) However, we're willing to travel elsewhere in order to meet up and see people! Anyone interested?
Dim sum time is here again - this year, ferret branca and I want to meet up at Buddha Bodai on Mulberry Street (yelp page), how about you? [more inside]

In years past I've hosted a meetup at my house during the week between Christmas and New Years. I'm proposing to do it again on December 30th, and this is the post to gauge interest. [more inside]
Hey Michiganders! By now I hope you're recovered from holiday madness and ready to kick back with your fellow mitten-wearing MeFites. We're meeting at Cultivate Coffee in Ypsilanti on Sun Jan. 21 from 4-8PM. Hopefully that will accommodate both early and latecomers. It's a nice bright shop with coffee, tea, beer and snacks. So stoked! Bring your pals! [more inside]
gingerbeer and I will be in New Orleans from this Friday (12/8) through Tuesday. We are going to a wedding on Friday, but the weekend is open. We're staying at the Old No. 77 hotel. We like cocktails and good food and mefites. Let us attempt to combine them!
Känna känna! I'm moving to Stockholm on January 20th. How about we put together a fika or something the last week of January? I'll be a bit south of the city but happy to travel for a meet up. Any interest?
The wonderful starlybri was kind enough to organize a recent NYC meet up, and some of us got to talking about how they used to happen more frequently in the city. So overhauser has kindly secured a spot at Lucky's in the East Village for us to gather on Saturday, December 9. The time will be 2-6pm. There will be cheap drinks, and we'd like to do this pot luck style with food! [more inside]
Apparently the weirdest, goofiest, and funnest Marvel movie yet. [more inside]
In theory a trivia attendee had news. Plus, there are fun questions. Anyone in?
It's finally fall, so why not celebrate with a meetup!? I was thinking McKenna's pub on west 14th would be good. Thursday the 16th at 6pm. I was also thinking about making a biweekly Saturday meetup if anyone's interested. Suggestions for a venue for that are welcome too.
Drinks, food and art. I will be in Richmond for First Friday and want to explore the heck out of it on foot. Lemaire at the Jefferson Hotel has fancy happy hour in the bar from 4 to 7 pm. Appetizers 3 for $20, wine and drink specials. The Lantern Parade starts at 7 pm. There are light sculptures around the Arts District. If there's later night blues music that would be even more swell. Come wander with me. [more inside]
The usual thing at the usual place. [more inside]
There is no Lowcountry Cabal. Maybe we can change that? [more inside]
I'm giving a public lecture on NW Coast Archaeology at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) on October 3rd at 7.45 (This link says 7.00 but there is an AGM first, I think). It's free and open to the public. If you come, be sure to say hi. I'm also in Portland the next day (October 4) and if anyone was interested in meeting for an after-work beer that would be fun - but I'm staying near Gladstone/Jennings Lodge so don't know how feasible that is, I don't know Portland at all.
I've got a group of three or maybe four people who will be carrying on the MDC tradition at the George on Tuesday. JOIN US. [more inside]
