Etc: Shatterdome Atlanta, a Pacific Rim Convention
There's a significant number of MeFites who love Guillermo del Toro's robots-punchan-monsters film, Pacific Rim. Shatterdome Atlanta is in its second year and is expanding to 2 days -- June 13 and 14. It's a fun little niche con (I'm on staff). Exhibition: Premiere - Witness Bahrain
A client and friend of mine has a documentary premiere in STIFF (Seattle's True Independent Film Festival or Seattle's Transmedia and Independent Film Festival) on May 7 at Grand Illusion Cinema. The film is 'Witness Bahrain', about the Arab Spring. I'll be there and the director, Jen Marlowe, will be there for Q&A after the film. Would love for mefites to join us. Link to buy tickets. I think it would be really cool for all MeFites who will be at Sasquan, the 73rd World Science Fiction Convention, to get together. I propose the District Bar on Friday August 21 for early dinner because a) it's a mile walk from the con so we can work up an appetite, b) the menu looks good, and c) I know I'll certainly need a break from the con at that point. Mefite ovenmitt is going to be in Tokyo pretty soon, and mentioned she'd like to stop by my new shop in Omotesando.
