Peninsula people! We seem to have this really bad habit of only meeting up when someone is coming in from out of town. Whaddya say we break that pattern and meet up just for the heck of it? May is good for me. I'll go anywhere on the Peninsula but bonus points for Caltrain-friendly. Y'all feel free to propose specifics. Dive bar? Food trucks? Other? Let's do this.

The merry month of May, so frolic, so gay, and so green, so goat, so goat! Join us for our month meet-up and drunkening. 6ish, 7ish at the Original Billy Goat in the dark underbelly of Michigan Avenue, until we get restless and move on to the Frog. Or join us Frogside, 10ish.

I'd like to have a picnic at Roxhill Park and hang out while kids play on the (exciting, new) playground. (There's also a skatepark, a large field, and a marsh walk.) Who wants to come hang out on a non-pouring-rain Saturday afternoon? (There's only a 10% chance of rain next Saturday, at least right now, so maybe then?) Update: let's meet at noon on Saturday, 3 May. I'll still be there if there's light rain.

Dim sum was awesome last time, does anyone want to meet up for it again? Maybe we could try a Saturday? Or get there around 10am since the line is CRAZY. [more inside]

Well, actually, it's a couple of nights away, but still.... Anyway, a trip to Western Canada has suddenly developed a Friday-evening-shaped gap, so any mefites care for a meetup in Edmonton? I am staying just off Whyte Ave and will be carless, so somewhere in Old Strathcona would suit me well. Sorry for the short notice, but I figured it was worth a shot. Friday the 25th is when I am tossing it out for. Does The Pourhouse suit people?

I'll be in Cape Town May Day weekend -- May 1-3 -- and just thought I'd toss out a possible meetup. There doesn't seem to be a ton of South Africa activity on IRL as a rule and I'm not even sure if there are any MeFites in Cape Town, but if anyone is out there and wants to get together for a beer, I'd love to do it. My schedule those three evenings will be pretty wide open.

This month's entry in the "Sunday Movies at the Palace with Lin-Manuel Miranda" is the original 1933 King Kong. Doors open at 4pm, pre-show entertainment by the Palace Youth Drum Ensemble at 4:30, Lin-Manuel's pre-show Q&A with John Landis at 5pm, then the movie itself at 5:30. No charge at the door, but this is part of the UPCA's push to raise enough money for a new movie screen, so they will no doubt be pushing for donations throughout the pre-show.

The Morgan Library is having a showing of art from The Little Prince. It's only on until the 27th. I'm going to suggest we go on Friday the 18th at 7 as its free Friday's from 7-9 and that seems to be the least objectionable date so far.

Degenerate Art: The Attack on Modern Art in Nazi Germany, 1937 is an exhibition of work banned and surpressed by the Third Reich. It's being shown at the Neue on the Upper East Side in NYC until June 30th. I think we should see it sometime in April. Like sometime In the second week of April.

I will be on Vancouver Island in a month. In a tentative feelers for a meetup last year, I suggested the totally apt FIAMO in Victoria for a meetup. Does Saturday May 3rd suit anybody to meet there?
