Mefites in Istanbul?

I'll be on my own in Istanbul from Feb 23-Mar 1. There are some quintessential experiences that seem better enjoyed with other people. Anyone up for meze and rakı? Catching some local music? Checking out art galleries in Beyoğlu? Doing something else you think an American visiting Turkey simply can't miss?

Though I'm not in Istanbul myself (alas!) be sure to visit the Basilica Cistern.
