Sounds fun. I'll try my darndest to be there. Also, I mentioned this to Toekneesan, but would there be any interest is going to this: http://mtb.eventbrite.com/ ?

I can see it being fun (lots of different beers to drink!) or not so fun (beer lecture, hrmm). Either way, I always love grabbing a drink at Zeno's.

I would like to meet up with people sometime, but probably not this time. I appreciate the memail tip that I got that this was going on, though. I haven't been too active around Metafilter recently, which kind of coincides with buying a house and Mrs. Jefeweiss having a baby (good times!)

I do heartily endorse Zeno's as the location, having spent way too many hours there over the years. I'm living in Bellefonte these days, so I don't often make it into the "big city", but when I do Zeno's is a popular destination.

Also, the event linked above is to meet the brewer at Elk Creek Cafe and I have met Tim, he's a nice guy and he makes some good beer.

I am afraid I won't be able to make it, too much stuff to do...

I might be interested in one (or more) of those meet the brewer things though; keep me posted.

Arsenio and I are here at the bar. Is anyone else here? We don't quite know how else to figure this out.

So I showed up with my Metafilter t-shirt, and we all found each other. MonkeyToes and Mr. Toes showed up a bit late as the bus from the Salatin chicken killing and cleaning demo arrived back a bit late.

The conversation was fantastic, though a bit weighted. We didn't talk about it. Then we did. And then we talked about many other things.

Thanks everyone for being there. Hope we do it again.

MonkeyToes, the generosity of your gift was deeply appreciated. Cinnamon rolls were our dessert tonight. I've sent you Kate's thoughts on the cheese and bread.

Check out that store.

Watch this.

dhens,--Arsenio and I also brew. I sense a reason for another meet-up. joan c. 2, you're going to have to join us. I've also been making ice cream, which is nothing like Ahi tuna, Arkansas chicken, or bacon.

See, I would actually eat Ahi tuna, Arkansas chicken, and bacon-flavored ice cream because the texture wouldn't be disgusting.

Not that I'm advising we do that.

Had a great time. Thanks again to MonkeyToes for getting the ball rolling! And of course I'm not going to turn down any future invitations to get together for beer or ice cream. I am, after all, an American.

joan, Arsenio and Toekneesan--thank you for making a wanderer feel welcome. Enjoyed meeting you all!

For the record: Toekneesan and his family are stand-up people. They took in strangers and provided not just shelter for the night, but also great conversation and an excellent sourdough boule. Thank you for your gracious hosting.

Mr. MonkeyToes and I arrived home safely, promising to do next year's conference, but we hope to be back before that. Until then--thank you and cheers!
