Richmond, VA meetup at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens

Sat January 7 at 7:00 PM, Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens
1800 Lakeside Ave, Henrico, VA, USA (Map & Directions)
We're overdue for a meetup and I was thinking the GardenFest of Lights at Lewis Ginter would be interesting. It's only $11 dollars and maybe we could grab dinner beforehand? As a Richmond native, I'm sad to say that I've never been to Lewis Ginter (sad I know). What does everyone think?

I'd be interested. I've been to LG but not to see the lights.

I highly recommend the GarndenFest of Lights! It's really beautiful.

Don't plan around my schedule, as my Thurs, Fri, and Sat nights are spoken for through the 31st, but I'd go on an off night except the 21st (they do every day but the 24th and 25th).

I'd be up for it if I'm in town. What do people think about either the week between Christmas and New Year's or the first week of January? Might make more sense than trying to schedule during pre-holiday chaos.

I'm in! I've been to concerts at Lewis Ginter during the summer, but I've never seen the holiday lights. Great suggestion, MaryD.

I think the beginning of January is a great idea if it's easier on everyone else. I don't have any crazy holiday plans and my weekends are flexible.

I just moved to Lynchburg and might make the drive over if it's after Christmas.

Okay how does January 7th around 6 or 7 pm sound? And maybe dinner beforehand if people are interested. We've been to Strangematter and Mekong before and both were a hit. What do you guys think?

7th works for me. I'll probably just do the lights.

I'm such a dolt, I completely mixed up my days and had it in my mind that the meetup was tomorrow. I didn't even realize until I looked at my phone and saw a text from Jamie and by then it was too late to make it. I hope you guys have a great time and I'm sorry if I held you guys up waiting around for me. I feel beyond horrible (and a little depressed) and was really looking forward to hanging out with everyone and seeing the lights. Let me know how it went.

So sorry to have missed you, but we were fine! Parking was crazy and we waited to make sure people had a chance to find us anyway, you didn't hold us up. I hope you get to the event tomorrow or next year. I'm sure Jamie will debrief you. Happy New Year, and thanks for getting me out to see the lights.

Mary, please don't worry! Rainbaby, Strangely Stunted Trees, Udon and I made it out. It was pretty cool- be sure not to miss the stick/root house if you go. They also had the indoor gardens open and a cute indoor display with adorable animals. We walked through and saw everthing in a little under an hour, timewise.

Don't feel depressed at all! I understand how you feel--I hate feeling like I let someone else down or flaked out, but we all got to enjoy some mefite company and see the lights. We waited a while to see if anyone else showed up, too, anyway.

Thanks for getting us out to do something different. I hope you still get to catch the lights later this year.

We'll catch you at the next meetup!
