Wed August 17 at 4:00 PM, Franklin Park
618 St Johns Pl, Brooklyn, NY, USA (Map & Directions)
I just moved to Crown Heights. Help.
Dr. Wu has suggested a meetup for Crown Heights mefites at Franklin Park.

Come help convince me to love this neighborhood. As it stands right now, I'm strongly ambivalent.

As something of an instigator here, I will assuredly be present. Pear cider on tap!

4pm on a weekday, huh. Is that a Crown Heights kinda time?

It's a "Franklin Park has a cheap happy hour" kinda time!

I will go to this event. I cannot drink so you will have to drink for me.

Yes! I'm in town, and I love meetups that start early! perfect! Brilliant idea.

Ah! I live in the neighborhood, but will be out of town all next week, though. Have fun!

Another time, though, I'd really love to do a meetup at the Way Station nearby, which is Doctor Who themed and really just screams Mefi Meetup.

I think that scream was already heard!:) Not sure if I'm in town for this event next week though.

I'd like to come, but can't leave work in Hell's Kitchenish until around 6:30 at the earliest.

I've been to a nighttime reading there without incident.

I might be able to make it, but I work until 5 or 6 usually. We'll see!

I can attest to the awesomeness of The Way Station. They have steampunk weapons on the walls. The owner was apparently a big name sci-fi author's publicist. And the seats are superplush. The bathroom? Nice.

(Not taking anything away from Franklin Park, even though I hear they took away their trivia night. Me and Franklin Park are good.)

And after everyone's gotten good and buzzed, come over to my place for a potluck dinner.

Hey I live on Franklin Ave and would love to welcome you to the (not so bad I promise) neighborhood! I have another obligation in Queens at 7 so can only stay for a bit but I definitely have no excuse to miss a meet up at my second home, I mean... umm local bar.

Also hell yes The Way Station is also a dope place for future/maybe even concurrent meet-ups! For a meet-up level-up: the last Thurs of the month has amazing nerdy, usually surrealy victorian burlesque! And I think Buffy trivia still happens some Mondays?

I'll be at Franklin Park in a couple hours -- and I just remembered that, annoyingly, the place only takes cash. Hopefully all attendees will be able to hit the ATM on their way over!

See y'all soon!

How late are people hanging? I wanna go, but don't want to show up after everyone's left.

I am, as usual, early. I'm the dork in the red and white short. Forgot my MeFi sign!

Hey, all! It was most excellent meeting you and chatting with you last evening. Sorry I had to leave so early, but Lady Mrs. Wu was cooking pork chops! You understand.

Y'all are some seriously good people and I hope we can get together again soon.

This was so fun that I went into false labor!

Nice to meet some of you and see some of you again!
