Sat June 11 at 12:00 PM, Governor's Island
Governors Island National Monument, Quadrangle Rd, New York, NY, USA (Map & Directions)
I will be singing in this >100 voice "flash mob choir" at the Figment Festival on Governor's Island in June. Want to join?
Here are the details. It's going to be rad.
Come sing in a flash mob choir in Figment on Governor's Island!

If you'd like to participate, please read EVERYTHING below.

WHO?
You! And also your friends, lovers, coworkers, neighbors, students, teachers, parents, grandparents, children (ages 10 and up, please).
Anybody who loves singing and feels comfortable carrying a tune is most welcome!

WHAT?
A choir of over a hundred people singing Stephanie Johnstone's simple, celebratory setting of Carrie Foulkes's poem "Love Commence" outside on the grass on Governor's Island in the Figment Festival!
More about Figment.
More about Stephanie.

WHEN?
Participants must attend one or both rehearsals:
Wed. 6/8 from 1-4 p.m. and/or Thurs. 6/9 from 7-10 p.m. (at the Church of St. Joseph in Brooklyn (856 Pacific Street))

AND one or both of the performance days:
Saturday, 6/11 and/or Sunday, 6/12 (on Governor's Island).
Between noon and 6 on each of the days, we will perform the five minute piece 4 times (or fewer); when we're not singing, we can be enjoying the rest of the festival. (The specific schedule will be announced soon by Figment.)

WHY?
It will be a fun and gorgeous time for all involved! Stephanie Johnstone, composer, is interested in creating the unique and transient utopia which materializes when multitudes of people raise their voices in song together.

HOW?
Two Important Steps:

1) Email lovecommence@gmail.com with your contact information and any questions you have.

AND

2) Go to this doodle link and select the dates you will be attending:

It is essential to do BOTH of these things in order to participate!

And please do them as soon as possible.

It's a new composition; we'll be the first recording!

I have now been told: "It's like if The Polyphonic Spree were a cappella." So that should be fun.

Learned from davidjmcgee that this has been cancelled so I'm closing this up.
