Polar Bear Plunge! Why? For the environment!

So--I did this last year, and it was both fun and fucking freezing. A ton of us line up by the water's edge at the Potomac River in National Harbor on a cold January morning... and jump in! Why? To keep winter cold!
The Chesapeake Climate Action Network is a super great DC-area advocacy org that has had real success pushing for landmark environmental legislation in local (DC, MD, VA) governments. They were a major force behind Maryland's fracking ban last year, and they're working hard to galvanize grassroots opposition in MD and West Virginia to block fracked-gas pipeline projects that would burrow under the Potomac. I've seen their work up close, and can attest to it. They're great at what they do.

The "Keep Winter Cold" polar bear plunge is their major annual fundraiser, and it's a whole lot of fun! I did it for the first time last year, and noticed that they encourage folks to form teams to plunge (and fundraise) together! This winter's plunge is scheduled for January 27, 2018.

Interested in plunging? Let's form a team! Interested in showing up to cheer some folks on? Yay, that's cool too!

this sounds great! I'm checking right now if a proposed ski trip is that weekend or later, but if I'm free I'll definitely come.
