Sat November 7 at 4:00 PM, My Parents' Basement
22 N Avondale Rd, Avondale Estates, GA, USA (Map & Directions)
My Parents' Basement (bar in Avondale with food and comics!), Saturday, 11/7, 4p.
I have moved and settled in to Atlanta and now want to meet some of y'all. I am in Fulton, but would be down to meet wherever. Maybe drinks and some snacks at Krog Street Market? Maybe seeing the free exhibit at the High Museum on Fridays? Maybe something I don't even know about because I am new in town? Yes yes okay.

I would love to come as I just moved here last year. However, I do have a big exam coming up at the end of the month so I might not be able to take time out of studying to come to the meetup.

My wife and I live in Conyers but would love to meet up in Decatur. We're there every Thursday night for tai chi class which lasts until 7:15pm but would be free afterwards. We can make it back in to town most other weeknights by 6pm.
Lately we've been eating at Green Ginger and The Corner Pub, both of which have ample parking. We've been wanting to try My Parents' Basement in Avondale Estates, just a quick ride from Decatur proper. There are a ton of good places to eat / meet up in that area, though. We had a meetup a few years back at Twain's which was a lot of fun.

I'm into meeting up in Decatur! I work until 8pm Tues-Friday (and 9-5 on Saturday) but beyond that I'm wide open!

Meeting in Decatur sounds fun! I'm in and out of town over the next month, but would love to come if I'm in town.
I've been wanting to try MPB as well, but the AJC didn't have great things to say about the food there.

Let's do MPB! I heard the same about the food, but they have a ton of nice looking $5 beers. Also, comics.

At one of the meet-ups I went to (Twain's in Decatur) I wandered around until I saw someone in a MetaFilter t-shirt, and walked up and introduced myself. In retrospect, it would have been pretty funny if that person had just been there independently...
This place doesn't look very big, so I guess maybe just look for the group of people who appear to be somewhat awkwardly looking around for other people? I have a MetaFilter t-shirt, so I'll wear that. My wife and I are habitually early to everything, so maybe we'll get there first and people can just find us.
You can also look at my profile, I have a recent-ish picture of myself there. I still look pretty much the same: short, fat, brown hair, glasses, beard. My wife has red hair and purple cat's eye glasses.

Everybody in our house is sick, so I'm pretty sure we're not going to make it. Very sorry to miss it, and I still haven't been to MPB, so I was looking forward to that, too.

Nonsense.. just chug some Dayquil or Theraflu and you'll be good to go - at least for long enough to make the meetup. Then you can go home and crash until Monday morning.

Thanks to everyone who came out. It was great meeting everyone. I really hope we can do this again soon. I enjoyed the company and the location.

Any interest in scheduling something more regularly? Seems like there are more MeFites here than when last we tried...
I would suggest Manuels (home of all things meetup) But they're gonna be closed for renovations shortly.
