Fri September 26 at 6:00 PM, Brouwerij de Molen
Doortocht 4, 2411 DS Bodegraven, The Netherlands (Map & Directions)
Europe's best craft and boutique beer festival, held at Brouwerij de Molen, in the Netherlands.
Each year, the Dutch brewery Brouwerij de Molen organises a beer festival and invites a bunch of their friends, who turn out to be some of the most interesting brewers in Europe. The festival lasts two days. Entry price is around 20 euros, which includes a glass, 8 beer tokens, a programme, and a bottle of water to help cleanse the palette.

The festival is also offering special beer-themed 3-course meals each evening. Booking can be made through their web shop. Limited spaces are available.

More information on the festival can be found on their website, including the list of brewers and beers.

De Molen have finally updated information about the beer dinners, which can be booked here.

The list of brewers and beers has also been updated. In a shock update, Narke have actually listed most of the beers that they're bringing, and thankfully they're taking Tanngnjost & Tanngrisnir and Rainbow Warrior, which were special favourites of mine last time they were available. Wondering what the surprise beer will be....

Before I moved here (== The Hague) in July, I got rid of all my stuff back home, which means now I need to acquire more stuff. That's totally a valid excuse for drinking beer, to get the glassware, right?

Totally. It's not top of my own list of excuses, but you know, different strokes....

Is anybody planning on doing the dinner option on Friday? Previous times I've happily subsisted on the hamburgers or sausages sold outside, but if people would like to go to dinner together?

Liz and I will do the dinner option both days. 19:30 ok?

BTW, likeso will also be coming to Borefts this year.

19:30 is perfect; will book ticket for that.

Damn, left this far too late. I've only booked for the meal on Friday, Saturday has sold out.

Me too.

It's fine, the alternative food options also look pretty good. We won't go hungry.

And Friday has sold out as well now - everyone's booking at the last minute.

Time changed, because some of us will be eating at 8pm!

Let's try and meet at 6pm. Location will be specified once we get a better idea of how they've laid out the festival this year.

Some of us will be there from mid-afternoon tomorrow (Friday), so feel free to get there earlier. MeMail me if you don't know who I am and need my phone number.

I'll be a bit past 18.00 due to train schedules and not knowing where the heck I'm going and whatnot. Is there anyone else coming who's not doing the dinner?

I have been really looking forward to a trip up, but its looking like I won't be able to. I've got a big deadline coming up with an experiment I need to finish, and bits of it have gotten too delayed.

I'm sorry to have to cancel.

Sorry to hear that Bob. Your box of Westvleteren will have to wait for another time. Why not create a meetup in Leuven sometime soon?

sidownward, dinner isn't till 7:30, and there will be other people. Getting there is pretty easy, Den Haag to Leiden, then to Bodegraven. Get out of the train, and follow the mass of happy looking people.

I'll be there at a quarter past four.

Ok, I think I'll make it by about 19.00. Adventure bound!

Make that 19.30. So if anyone else is coming but not eating, I'll be wandering around.

If there is interest I could set one up for October? We could see the Stella Brewery, visit what is now the bar with the most beers in the world, stop by the speciality beer shops, see the longest bar in Europe, and eat proper Flemish food! I've also now got a house that is well set up for hosting someone or a couple.

So sad you couldn't be there, Bobby - it was such a lovely day/evening/night. Great company - fun to see old friends again and meet new ones - and great beer. We had the interesting (aroma d'urinoir, essence of modelling glue), the delicious (Rocket, Brekeriet, Emelisse, Tocalmatto and Närke are on fire this year) and the simply amazing (De Molen's Hel & Verdoemenis Wild Turkey BA Eisbock just blew me away. Utter artistry.)

Was so much fun we're going back today. :) The hard core will be showing up at one. Us more wimp-like creatures will peek in around four. See y'all there!
