Klangklangston is coming to DC!

Thu March 13 at 6:30 PM, Iron Horse
507 7th Street Northwest, Washington, DC, USA (Map & Directions)
Klangklangston will be coming to DC this week which obviously means we should have a meetup! Proposed details within.
Ideally we'd be able to meet up Thursday evening (Bulgaroktonos and I are out of town this weekend). I was thinking Iron Horse in Chinatown might be good because they've got plenty of space downstairs and it's on the Red and Green lines. They also serve DC Brau which I think is nice if someone is visiting our fair city. They don't serve food but you can bring it if you want.

I'm hoping this proposal works for everyone; if it's on a different night I can't attend and that would make me a crummy organizer. That said, alternative suggestions are welcome!

PROPOSAL:
Date: This Thursday, March 13th (2014)
Time: 6:30ish or whenever people feel like arriving
Location: Iron Horse, 507 7th street NW (near the Chinatown metro stop)

Hopefully this will work for many many people and we can make it a meetup to remember!

Sounds solid. Univac will be there too; we're sharing a hotel room (don't tell my bosses; they paid before he signed on and I don't want to have to pay them back).

I haven't been to DC since the first Bush inauguration, and before that, I was 10. So I have absolutely no idea what DC looks like to an adult.

This sounds fun. I'm pretty adept at public transit, and I grew up in winter, so 32 doesn't scare me. I'm staying in Woodley Park, which I can't quite tell how far away from the city center it is, but I think I can get the metro there.

Sadly, I have class that night... have fun!

This is really cool but I'm probably not going to make it as I'll be in Baltimore during the day, and have child care duties that night.

Unless you think you'll be making a late night of it and I could put my daughter to bed first...?

klang, buddy, I'd love to meet you some time if you're in town for a while.

Aw, man. It is unfortunately a bad week for me. If folks are irresponsible for a school night, I might be able to swing by late.

Darn, I leave tonight for a month-long work trip. Have fun though! Iron Horse is a great bar.

Make sure you check out the 9:30 club..

I'm on kiddo duty that evening and Iron Horse is a little too loud for him I think. If coverage opens up or I decide to strap some mufflers to his head I'll come over.

I'm in, and I should be able to make it around 6:30. I know a lot of the DC folks, and am pretty easy to pick out in a crowd--white, 47, 6'5" and pony-tailed.

Sorry y'all, I am busy entertaining a guest for the next week. Everyone have a great time!

Alternative suggestions that are marginally quieter and have food:

Capital City Brewing co on New York Ave

Right Proper on T Street in Shaw

A&D bar on 9th near the convention center

Been mostly lurking these days, but might be able to make it depending on venue.

A&D doesn't have the best selection of food (gummy bears in jars?) but they are around the corner from THE GREATEST SANDWICH SHOP OF ALL SPACE AND TIME okay at least the greatest in dc.

My preference is right proper.

Okay, I'm calling it for Iron Horse because it seems at least okay and I'd like to keep the venue as Metro accessible as possible.

I don't have work the next day and am generally an irresponsible person on the whole so if you find yourself free later in the evening and want to know if we're still around, text me if you have that or just MeFi mail me and I'll try to check. See as many of you as possible on Thursday!

A chance to meet the person who the Infodumpster says is literally my favorite MeFite? Count me in!

Great meeting everybody, even if I still link faces to usernames better than real ones!

This is what we call "post-meetup conflation syndrome" (well, we do now because I just made it up) where someone's like "It was so nice to meet UserName" and someone else is like "Oh, you mean RealPerson?" and you're like "I'm not sure, was that the one with the beard?" and your friend is like "The big beard or the silky beard?" and you're like "I think you mean OtherUserName" and they're like "Oh, RealPerson2", and it takes like two months to get everything straight and figure out what actually happened.
