The meetup sidebar has been exploding all over the place, but it's basically dried up here in NYC. We missed the entire month of September. This must be rectified. I propose we meet up at a bar somewhere on the weekend of Oct. 15-17. Update: we will be having said meetup at Revival on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 8pm.
There was? I looked through the archive and didn't see any (and missed them when they came around in the first place). Apparently, I need to get my eyes checked.

(That was not a "Great, khaaaaa won't be there" because she's all kinds of delightful and interesting, but a "Great, let's have a meetup, because I was just complaining about this until I figured out that even though I changed my profile location to NYC, I didn't change my lat/long, so wasn't seeing stuff in NYC show up as "close to me" so I probably missed things and anyway, I want to hang out with you guys (even if khaaaaa can't be there).")

I'll be in heading from the UK to NY Nov 2 to Nov 8 and was umming & ahhing about a meetup call. The main point of my visit is to check out my friend's new bar – Idle Hands in the East Village – and see some Knicks games.
As this is NY Mefi people I'm thinking a second meetup so soon might not be a problem...

You all do know that there are bars in that area besides fucking Revival, right? Like Bar None on 3rd between 12 & 13th, which has a big back room, cheaper drinks, a jukebox and bartenders who know me? Just saying.

Yeah... In my experience, that means "COME." What better way to get established in a new city than by hanging out with a ready-made group of friends (or at least acquaintances). Heck, you can always leave if you get skurred.

hmm, well, my Saturday event got cancelled (no pay: no play) so I might very well be making it unless this girl I met on okcupid decides to murder me in the meantime (fortunately, she doesn't have my address.) What was that about? I try not to socially discriminate against people because they're not neurotypical or they're on mood stabilizers or they've have a rough childhood but that was weeiirrdd.

What I always do is just go to groups of people and ask "excuse me, are you from the internet?" Eventually you find the right group of people.

Dear MTA,
Please try to avoid doing construction on the only subway line that services where I live every weekend for months on end. Having a shuttle service that doesn't actually replace the subway line doesn't really help either.
