Sun August 25 at 1:00 PM, C.C. Stern Type Foundry
8900 Northeast Vancouver Way, Portland, OR, USA (Map & Directions)
I'm in town to visit the C.C. Stern Type Foundry's Museum of Metal Typography which is having a Hot Metal Open House. Museum volunteers will demonstrate the process of making type for letterpress printing from hot metal. Anyone want to join? I'm going to show up near the beginning at 1 p.m. Suggested donation is $5.

Oh man, that's kinda neat. If we weren't already hosting a canning meetup today I'd probably come down and check it out with you.

The Stern Type Foundry visit is actually a featured part of TypeCon, too, but although I'm attending the convention, I don't think I'll make it to this.

Cortex, the museum also has "Open Hours on every third Saturday of the month from 11:00am-3:00pm" so maybe a future meet up? I know I'd be interested.

I'm committed to pickles but this does sound fun.

Clearly grouse can regale us with type tales whie we pickle the pickles.

Two meetups happening at once? That is a jarring phenomenon to wake up to. What a pickle I have gotten myself into! I don't want to can this meetup but I can certainly go to the other one afterward. That sounds like a good way out of this jam. I'm glad MoonOrb suggested a way to preserve my afternoon with MeFites. I can hardly contain my excitement!

You're not allowed to come anymore.

If anybody's counting, I would indeed be interested in this as a future meetup.
