I have to host people at my house the next day, so whether I make it out will depend on whether I've got everything prepared for that by the night before.

I always so i'll come and don't, but I will try. God damn it I will try.

Firmly in the 'maybe' category for me. I will do my best, but it will be a busy day for me.

I'm coming in the 24th...sorry to miss you!

I'll be having a long day after a long week - but it's entirely possible that I could make it out. So I'm a maybe. Best wishes for a great visit!

So is this happening?

Yes! It is definitely happening! I just don't know where yet as I don't know Toronto at all and have had no time to research.

Where are you staying? We have lots of options in the downtown core, but other options as well.

Recent meetups at talk-friendly locations near U of T:

- Paupers (Boor W. near Bathurst): a few of us were lucky to snag a snug, although this may not happen again

- Snakes and Lattes (a little further west on Bloor), but they are super-saturated and have horrible waiting lists these days

- Harbord House was surprisingly low-key

Further west, at Blansdowne (Bloor and Lansdwone), Ciros was a great dive.

Anyone have any other ideas or preferences?

Two Bite Saloon has food and is usually empty because people seem to go the bar next door more (Tall Boys). That's in Blossington. There is also Hurricanes.

Ciros has a big backyard patio. It's way west though.

Those Annex bars are boring, but conveniently located.

i like harbord house quite a bit, but it's fancy.

Is there somewhere you could suggest in Chinatown, Little Italy, or Roncesvalles? My girlfriend and I would be interested in visiting those areas.

I am sorry that I have not been very explicit so far. I hope we can decide on the meetup venue this afternoon! Then I will make the rest of my plans for earlier based on that.

Anyone have any concrete suggestions for those areas? grouse, are you looking for a restaurant or a bar in Chinatown? (I'm presuming you mean the Spadina / Kensington area). We could start off at any restaurant, then stagger to a bar, or just start off at a bar with bar food.

Roncesvalles might be a bit far west for some people. (I'm in the Junction, so that's practically my back yard.)

Anyone have suggestions for Little Italy?

Any place with a great patio that we're missing?

Since there might be a crowd and it's Saturday night, I think we will go with chunking express's recommendation of Two Bite Saloon. Hope to see you there at 8 p.m., Saturday the 20th! (That is, "tonight" after about three minutes from now.)

That sounds great -- see you then!

The date on the IRL page is right now 19, and this post only appears in past events.

I don't know how that happened but LobsterMitten fixed it. Thanks!

We are in the back sitting at the sofa with no table, although we will move to a table when one becomes available.

Hi all! I had a long day, as I thought I would. Despite bumping into That Canadian Girl and putting our heads together and getting closer to venturing west together, in the end my body decided it needed a loooooong nap which I just woke up from. Hope you're having fun!

The food there is good, hope you guys tried some.

That was lots of fun! Thanks for a lovely evening. I hope we acquitted our city well. The food was indeed good; the catfish slider was surprisingly delicious.

We enjoyed meeting you folks! Good food. We ended up going to Greg's Ice Cream afterwards which was delicious! I've never done an ice cream meetup before but I think this is a good start.

We liked meeting you too! Hooray for everything, including sliders and ice cream :)

Great meetup! It was lovely meeting you, and you are GENIUSES for proposing end-of-meetup ice cream instead of more beer. I've never helped close an ice cream shop before. It felt extra sinful.

I wish I could have made it out, but instead I spent my evening dealing with work problems and trying to make popsicles. The work problems turned out better than the popsicles, but neither was as much fun as a meetup would have been.
