Sat October 20 at 3:00 PM, Bushwhacker cider bar
1212-D SE Powell Blvd, Portland, OR, USA (Map & Directions)
Bushwhacker cider bar! SE 12th and Powell.
Arbitrarily set for Saturday, October 20th, at 3pm. That's over two months away so if there's scheduling that needs to be worked out, it can be changed.

I've been there a couple of times. They have tasting flights, which is nice to get with a group if you are unfamiliar with cider and aren't sure what you should order. Everyone can sample the range of what's on tap and then get a pint of what they liked the best.

I'd be up for it, schedule permitting.

Yeah, sounds fun!

Looks like they also stock a number of meads and beers. October sounds good.

Quite possibly. Kiddo #2 would ill be about a month old, so I may be able to step out for a moment by then.

Okeedokes, set.

Sounds good. I'll be graduating (PSU) next week so I should be fine for time depending on what happens with new-job/looking-for-new-job commitments.

I haven't been to a meet-up since the huge Ground Kontrol party of ancient wayback times, and I'd like to change that. So I'll definitely be there ... unless I chicken out.

We were talking the other night about Ground Kontrol; might be something nice to do in a couple of months.

Game Day: Ground Kontrol?

Damn. I'll be in scenic Indianapolis on the 20th, which is unfortunate because I love cider.

I'll be in town for a conference ! (First time to Portland too!) I'll try my darnest to be there, hope it fits my schedule.

Sadly I have to work until 10 pm, so unless this goes epic long I won't be seeing y'all. Have one for me.

Nick, that is a disappointing development.

You're mostly working weekends right now, yeah? Let us know if you've got a weeknight free sometime for a (possibly semi-spontaneous) meetup. Thinking about starting trivia up again sometime soonish as well.

Well, the 20th is a Saturday, so I assume most of us won't need to get up early and go to work the next day. As a friend of mine says, it ain't "late" until it's 2 (and then it's 2 late)!

Spontaneous midweek is probably ideal.
I've been thinking of MeFite lunch.
posted by nickthetourist at 9:04 AM on October 7, 2012

I have a MeFite guest in town that weekend, I think we will both be there!

I'd love to come, but I'll be out of town from 16-20.
And I've been meaning to get to Bushwacker too.
I gotta stop trying to be the King of "Next Time"s.

Ooh, ooh! Specklet and I might be able to make that. It depends on The Boy, but as long as he's behaving and assuming we can bring an eight-week-old into the place, we'll be there.
posted by TheDonF at 5:08 PM on October 14, 2012

You should totally bring The Boy.
posted by curious nu at 8:45 PM on October 15, 2012

We will definitely try to make it, gotta show him off! (You guys know he wouldn't exist if it weren't for MetaFilter, right? Aw yeahhhh.)

Food situation at Bushwhacker's is: only meh-ish appetizers available at the bar itself, but you can order from the Berlin Inn across the street and they'll bring it over, or have pizza delivered. Other options may be available, but that's what I know for now.

In retrospect I'm gonna have to dodge out on this one since I've got to actually do some work this afternoon. Drink some cider for me!
posted by cortex at 11:21 AM on October 20, 2012

Sorry guys. Just got a possible job interview coming up Monday. The message was on my answering machine last night when I got home. Going to have to study all weekend for it. Hopefully will be employed and available next time. Drink some cider for me as well!
posted by aleph at 12:56 PM on October 20, 2012

Aaaaaaand, we're out as well as I've phoned the bar and it's strictly 21s and over. Even if you're an eight-week-old baby, you still can't come in. Boo :(
posted by TheDonF at 1:32 PM on October 20, 2012

Put mustache on baby.
posted by cortex at 1:34 PM on October 20, 2012

The mustache only makes him look ten weeks. Twelve tops.

posted by Specklet at 5:52 PM on October 20, 2012

You're welcome to bring him to the next meetup instead, mustache or no.

Fudge, I missed this because I ended up flying out earlier (that afternoon) than I anticipated. :(

Hope it was fun !

This seems as good a place as any to mention that apparently this is a real thing.

Yes, it is a "Portland" restaurant in Vancouver BC. As in, "Portland restaurant" in the same sense as "French restaurant".

OMGWTF.

Carry on. I'll see you people in a couple of weeks.

Also, vote.
